  • Patent number: 7546310
Abstract: A system and method for detecting preference expressions indicating evaluators' likes and dislikes of a product from evaluations of the product and stores text describing evaluation of the product in association with an attribute of the text. The method extracts an evaluating expression describing evaluation of the specific object from each of the texts, determines whether the extracted evaluating expression has positive or negative polarity, where the positive indicates favorable evaluation and the negative indicates unfavorable evaluation. The system inputs a text attribute that is designated as an object for detecting the preference expression and detects an evaluating expression, which is detected from a text having an input attribute from the extracted evaluating expressions as one of the preference expressions and outputs the preference expressions in association with a frequency of the preference expressions being determined to have the positive or negative polarity in the text having the attribute.

  • Patent number: 7433902
Abstract: Various embodiments of a computer-implemented method backup a dataset. An input image copy of the dataset is read, wherein the input image copy is prior to a start of dataset reorganization. A cursor value associated with reorganization of said dataset is determined. A backup copy is produced based on the input image copy, the changes from the log and the cursor value.

  • Patent number: 7424497
Abstract: A technique for accelerating the creation of a hyperclone of a virtual file system. A hyperclone inode is copied from the base inode. Each indirect and direct block referenced by the base inode is also copied and the block pointers within the base inode are set to reference the copied direct data blocks. A CTW bit is set within each copied block that alerts the file system that the reference indirect or direct block is not to be deallocated.

  • Patent number: 7389287
Abstract: A user interface provides historical and hierarchical search and navigation modes through previously selected and hierarchically linked multimedia applications, documents and directories. The system permits a search for information through hierarchically linked documents accessible via the Internet in which an individual document contains a reference link to a succeeding document. The systems includes an input processor for receiving a user entered search information item identifying an object associated with at least one of the hierarchically linked documents. An Internet processor for searching and identifying a plurality of child documents hierarchically linked to a parent document identified by the object and excluding non-hierarchically associated documents in response to user initiation of a hierarchical search. An output processor processes data identifying the plurality of child documents for communication to a reproduction device.
