Patent number: 9893715Abstract: Adaptive self-tunable antenna systems and methods are provided including a closed-loop system for sensing near-field RF signals of transmitted RF signals and tuning an antenna or switching between multiple antennas, so that the strength of the transmitted RF signals is maximized. A sensing antenna detects the near-field RF signal, which is filtered and converted to an RF strength control signal that can be used to generate an antenna tuning control signal. An antenna tuner uses the antenna tuning control signal to keep the antenna in resonance by dynamically changing the electrical length of the antenna or switching between multiple antennas to maximize the strength of the radiated RF signal. Such antennas may be less prone to detuning due to interaction with human bodies or other objects. Dynamically matching the antennas to an RF power amplifier and low noise amplifier can improve stability, power efficiency, gain, noise figure, and receiver sensitivity.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2013Date of Patent: February 13, 2018Assignee: Shure Acquisition Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Christopher Zachara

Patent number: 9843361Abstract: Communicating via near field communication (NFC) between a reader and an application on an NFC-enabled device. The device receives, from a reader, a selection of an application identifier (AID) proxy of the device. The proxy receives, from the reader, a query (including domain name) directed to the availability of an application on the device. The proxy determines whether the domain name corresponds to an AID of an application on the device by reference to a data store relating each domain name of each application to a corresponding AID. When the domain determined to correspond to an AID of an application on the device, the device transmits a response to the reader indicating the AID corresponding to the domain name. The device receives, from the reader, selection of the transmitted AID. The application corresponding to selected AID communicates with the reader in an NFC application protocol data unit communication session.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2015Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Tommy Poon, Mun-Wei Low

Patent number: 9844063Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for dynamically enabling and disabling cyclic prefix within a long-term evolution (LTE) channel. A base station receives channel quality indication (CQI) reports indicating levels of ISI within the LTE channel. The base station determines whether the levels of ISI within the LTE channel are greater than, equal to, or less than a predetermined threshold level of ISI for the LTE channel. Based on the determination, the base station either enables or disables cyclic prefix within the LTE channel. In addition to levels of ISI, numbers of roaming users or cell edge users utilizing the LTE channel may affect whether cyclic prefix is enabled or disabled within the LTE channel.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2016Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Sreekar Marupaduga, Rajveen Narendran, Nicholas David Caola Kullman, Andrew Mark Wurtenberger
