  • Patent number: 11714207
Abstract: Various embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for detecting seismic events. Systems may include inertial sensors distributed on or in communication with a network of optically switchable windows in the building. In some systems, inertial sensors are located within a window controller, within an insulated glass unit, or in some way rigidly attached to the structure of a building. Logic is described for leveraging sensed inertial data to predicted a seismic event and/or evaluate the structural health of the building. In some cases, logic may be used to issue an alert to building occupants about impending shear waves that will arrive at the building's location. In some cases, a window network may respond to a detected seismic event by, e.g., changing the optical state of windows and/or providing occupants with evacuation instructions.

  • Patent number: 11709288
Abstract: Processes and systems described herein are directed to imaging a subterranean formation from seismic data recorded in a marine survey with moving marine vibrators. The marine vibrators generate random sweeps with random sweep signatures. Processes and systems generate an up-going pressure wavefield from measured pressure and vertical velocity wavefield data recorded in the marine survey and obtain a downgoing vertical acceleration wavefield that records source wavefields, directivity, source ghosts, and random signatures of the random sweeps. The downgoing vertical acceleration wavefield data is deconvolved from the up-going pressure wavefield to obtain a subsurface reflectivity wavefield that is used to generate an image of the subterranean formation with reduced contamination from source wavefields, directivity, source ghosts, and random signatures of the random sweeps.

  • Patent number: 11693137
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating a model for detection of seismic events. In this regard, one or more processors may receive from one or more stations located along an underwater optical route, one or more time series of polarization states of a detected light signal during a time period. The one or more processors may transform the one or more time series of polarization states into one or more spectrums in a frequency domain. Seismic activity data for the time period may be received by the one or more processors, where the seismic activity data include one or more seismic events detected in a region at least partially overlapping the underwater optical route. The one or more processors then generate a model for detecting seismic events based on the one or more spectrums and the seismic activity data.
