  • Patent number: 9625195
Abstract: An indoor unit includes: a casing; a heat exchanger through which a flammable refrigerant flows; a fan; a detection sensor detecting a leak of the flammable refrigerant; a warning device emitting a warning about a leak of the flammable refrigerant; a control unit controlling operations of the fan and the warning device; and an operation device inputting stop commands for the fan and the warning device to the control unit based on its manual operation. Upon detection of a leak of the flammable refrigerant by the detection sensor, the control unit starts up the fan on condition that the fan is at a stop, starts up the warning device, disregards a stop command for the fan by the operation device, and permits a stop command for the warning device by the operation device. As a result, a user is enabled to arbitrarily stop a warning started based on occurrence of a refrigerant leak.

  • Patent number: 9612026
Abstract: The portable evaporative cooler for vehicles includes a housing with a hanging hook and suction cups for selective mounting to a side window of a vehicle. The housing is divided into various interior compartments for an airflow manifold, a misting assembly, and a heat exchange system. The airflow manifold includes a fan that positively feeds ambient air through a first heat exchanger to pre-cool the air prior to subjecting the same to a moisture mist from the misting assembly for further cooling. The cooled air flows through a second heat exchanger for final cooling prior to exiting the housing and into the interior of the vehicle. The fan forces airflow in one direction to recycle the ambient air through the housing. A controller is coupled to a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor to monitor the air and control the components to cool the air to desired or predetermined levels.

  • Patent number: 9581340
Abstract: A preheat tank to which a heat exchanger is operatively coupled receives water from a distribution subsystem. A water distribution subsystem and tempered fluid distribution subsystem provide domestic water and tempered fluid, respectively, to a plurality of spaces. Air handlers transfer heat between the tempered fluid and the spaces for heating and cooling. A controller coupled to the tempered fluid subsystem, the heat exchanger and a refrigerator has: (i) a first mode, wherein the fluid is routed through the heat exchanger, to pass heat to the preheat tank; and (ii) a second mode, wherein the fluid is routed through an evaporator of the refrigerator, to pass heat to the refrigerant. A storage tank is coupled to the preheat tank to receive water therefrom and is coupled to the condenser of the refrigerator such that heat rejected by the condenser is passed to the contents of the storage tank.

  • Patent number: 9574811
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing substantially clear ice in a variety of desired shapes. The apparatus and method in the described embodiments generally provide for an insulated ice mold containing one or more mold cells, each mold cell with an open top, open bottom, and insulated side walls, that is suspended over a liquid water reservoir surrounded and contained in an insulated container. The top surface of the water residing in each mold cell is exposed to freezing air. The insulated walls forming the sides of one or more mold cells act to insure that each ice shape forms and grows from the top surface, down and towards the bottom of each mold cell. The liquid water reservoir, which contacts the bottom surface of the ice shape, remains in a liquid phase and serves as an impurity sink into which the impurities and gases contained in the freezing water are driven as ice forms downward in the mold cell.
