Patent number: 5603251Abstract: A screw shaft supporting structure capable of absorbing elongation of a screw shaft due to changes in environmental temperatures irrespective of the position of the rotary blade on said screw shaft is disclosed. In the sheet material cutting device, that portion of the screw shaft which is supported by a bushing and another portion thereof supported by a frame end absorbs elongation of the screw shaft due to heat. When the supporting member holding the rotary blade is positioned at A in FIG. 1, elongation of the screw shaft due to thermal expansion is absorbed in a gap formed between the stepped portion of the screw shaft and the frame end. When the supporting member holding the rotary blade is positioned at B in FIG. 1, elongation of the screw shaft due to thermal expansion is absorbed in a gap S1 formed between the stepped portion of the screw shaft and the bushing.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1994Date of Patent: February 18, 1997Assignee: Onishilite Industry Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takamasa Onishi

Patent number: 5592865Abstract: A roll slicing mechanism includes a conveyor which moves in a first direction and supports a roll cluster having a pair of joined rolls spaced in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A rotatable shaft perpendicular to the conveyor has at an end nearest the conveyor a disk knife parallel to the conveyor, and a roll breaking arrangement spaced opposite the first direction from the shaft in feeding alignment therewith breaks apart a portion of the joint. A spreader arrangement spaced opposite the first direction from the roll breaking arrangement in feeding alignment therewith positions and spreads the rolls of the pair prior to engagement of the rolls with the roll breaking arrangement. In a preferred embodiment, the spreading arrangement includes two rotatably supported wheels oriented to converge toward the conveyor and opposite the first direction, the wheels being supported for movement toward and away from the conveyor and being resiliently urged toward the conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1995Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: LeMatic, Inc.Inventor: Dale S. Patent number: 5584215Abstract: The instant invention is a tire cutting apparatus which operates in conjunction with a conventional band saw providing a used tire treatment mechanism that is affordable to purchase and maintain. A tire support assembly having flexible bands to expand to the inner perimeter of a tire casing is used with tire rotational speed controlled by a motor which frictionally engages an outer perimeter of the tire. The tire casing is further stabilized during the cutting operation by a wheel platform which supports a conventional band saw. The tire casing is rotated during or by band saw operation cutting the tire casing in two equal halves with smooth edges. The apparatus further includes an enclosure providing a catch basin for material cut from the tire and a cover allowing the apparatus to be stored or used as a work table. Wheels allow the enclosure to be easily moved and stood upright in a corner should space be a problem.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Inventors: Christopher Rundle, Michael Borell

Patent number: 5584374Abstract: In this method for row-wise separation of rectilinear, plastic porous concrete bodies formed by longitudinal and transverse cutting of a rectilinear plastic porous concrete block preferably standing on edge. After turning back through 90.degree., the cut block is so placed with its major side surface on a plurality of parallel laminae for the separation and so that its longest side edge runs parallel to the direction of the laminae and that each row of porous concrete bodies is supported on at least one lamina. Before the separation, a clamping force is exerted from above on the upper ends of all the porous concrete bodies of the row to be separated. Independently thereof, a clamping force from above is exerted on the upper ends of all the porous concrete bodies of the stationary row in contact with the row to be separated.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Heber AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wilfried Hartmann, Eberhard Brandt

Patent number: 5551327Abstract: Multiple saw blades in a gang rip saw apparatus and like multi-blade cutting apparatus may be selectively adjusted to differing spacings from one another by mounting a threaded sleeve on the rotary arbor of the apparatus and mounting a plurality of electric drive motors on the sleeve with the rotor of each drive motor threadedly engaged with the sleeve and the stator held fixed against rotation relative to the sleeve by longitudinal guide rods, which carry electrical supply wiring to the stators from a slip ring assembly. Each saw blade is affixed annularly to a respective one of the stators. Individual energization of each stator causes the respective rotor to drive the motor/blade assembly along the sleeve to a desired position relative to the other saw blade/motor assemblies. With the saw blade/motor assemblies selectively positioned at desired relative spacings, the arbor is driven to rotate the saw blade/drive motor assemblies integrally with the arbor for "gang" cutting operation in conventional manner.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1994Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Inventors: William D. Patent number: 5499565Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is clamped against a cutting surface on the base of the apparatus by a pair of parallel clamping bars. A lever arm is pivoted to, and is axially slidable on, a shaft disposed parallel to the clamping bars and the lever arm carries a cutting head. A pair of blades are mounted in an acute angle relation on the cutting head, and as the lever arm is manually pivoted downwardly, the blades cut a pair of slits in the belt. The lever arm is then pivoted up and advanced axially along the shaft and the cutting action is repeated to thereby cut a plurality of V-shaped fingers in the belt, which can be interdigitated with fingers of a second belt end and subsequently bonded together to provide an endless spliced belt.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1994Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Assignee: Dorner Mfg.
