  • Patent number: 8676699
Abstract: Methods and systems for risk monitoring and reporting impacts of credit ratings on rated legal entities are provided. In a method of reporting an impact of credit ratings on a rated legal entity, a plurality of credit rating terms related to a rated legal entity are converted to at least one logical trigger comprising one or more logical expressions. The credit rating terms may impact performance of a legal right or obligation associated with the rated legal entity. The trigger(s) are stored in a computer database. At least one trigger is retrieved from the database. A status for one of the retrieved triggers is evaluated based on predetermined values of the logical expression(s) of the retrieved trigger. Status information for at least one rated legal entity is displayed based on the evaluated status of the retrieved trigger(s).

  • Patent number: 8671160
Abstract: In a method for admitting an information provider to transmit information, a transmission device receives test data transmitted by an information provider, and the transmission device evaluates the quality of the test data. The test data represents information offered by the information provider. Depending on the quality of the test data, the transmission device admits the information provider to a system for transmitting information between information providers and information seekers. The transmission device then matches one or more information seekers with the information provider.

  • Patent number: 8666892
Abstract: In general, in one aspect, an electronic payment transaction can be processed at a merchant location without the need for configuring the equipment used to include parameters related to a merchant account (merchant profile). The electronic payment transactions processed from the merchant location simply include a unique identification for the equipment. A processing switch upstream maintains a correlation between the unique identifiers and the merchant profiles and retrieves the appropriate merchant profile for the unique identification and utilizes the merchant profile to process the electronic payment transactions.

  • Patent number: 8660945
Abstract: A method and system for identifying small businesses and/or small business operators includes a process for identifying small businesses and/or small business operators whereby financial transaction data for one or more consumers is obtained from one or more sources. The one or more consumers' financial transaction data is then analyzed to identify financial transactions typically associated with ownership and/or management of a business, i.e., business management related transactions. If more than a threshold number of business management related transactions associated with a given consumer are identified, that consumer is identified as a potential small business owner and/or manager.

  • Patent number: 8645242
Abstract: Systems and methods for compiling and analyzing bids from bidders in an auction offering of securities by an issuing company are disclosed. A data striper stripes bid data compiled from the bids of potential investors into a plurality of stripes according to an algorithm and a bid aggregation system aggregates the bid data in the stripes. The bid aggregation system may perform a first-level aggregation on the bid data in the data stripes for combinations of a plurality of attributes related to the bid data and/or a second-level aggregation based on the first-level aggregation. The auction management system may further comprise an analytics system for analyzing the aggregated bid data. The analytics system may receive user requests for analysis of the bid data, perform the analysis in real time based on the user inputs, and serve the results of the analysis to the user.

  • Patent number: 8645259
Abstract: Current market price, limit price, and short term volatility define the probability that the market price will reach the desired limit price and that the order will be executed. A computer implemented method estimates the probability of executing the limit price order and provides output to the investor to assist in setting the limit price in an informed way. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a computer implemented system provides the investor with prices predicted to be executable at a set of given probabilities of execution. In one embodiment, the output to the investor includes a set of limit order execution probabilities, such as 80%, 90%, 95%, or similar, and corresponding limit order set prices. In another embodiment, an investor sets the execution probability, such as 95%, which is provided as input into the system. The output to the investor includes the calculated limit price corresponding to the set execution probability.

  • Patent number: 8645244
Abstract: In an approach to financial management, a data representation is formed that defines a number of data elements and relationships between the data elements according to one or more regulatory requirements. Data characterizing availability of particular ones of the data elements for a financial institution are accepted, and actual or potential compliance by the financial institution with at least some of the regulatory requirements is then analyzed. The analysis can include identifying gaps in collection of values associated with the data elements for the regulator requirements, which can relate to calculation requirements and/or to reporting requirements for the regulations. Data representing computations associated with the regulatory requirements can be stored and the computations can then be executed to validate other implementations of the calculation.

  • Patent number: 8639623
Abstract: A transaction processing system for the real time authorization of payment transactions, The system comprises a verification system (4) connected to an issuer card management system (3). A cardholder can access the system via an interface (2) which can be for example the Internet, a wireless device, telephone, or a branch visit. The interface allows the cardholder to input rules governing how their credit card transactions are to be authorized. When the cardholder initiates a purchase transaction with their credit card, an authorization request is passed from the card network to the verification system which executes the rules created by the cardholder in order to approve or deny the transaction.

  • Patent number: 8630931
Abstract: A system and method for funding investment seeking companies (ISCs), e.g., startup companies, by a funding company is disclosed. For each of the ISCs, in exchange for private equity therein, the funding company issues a corresponding publicly tradable class of its own stock substantially based on the performance of the ISC. The ISCs are categorized according to characteristics important to investors, e.g., type of technology, revenue, and products or services (to be) offered so that ISCs in a same category compete against one another for funding distributions from the funding company. In particular, income returns on the investments of proceeds from public sales of each class of stock are periodically distributed among competing ISCs according to, e.g., the share prices of their corresponding class of funding company stocks.

  • Patent number: 8615455
Abstract: A method for metering on-demand service (ODS) resource consumption by a user comprising a web services interface, a processing engine, and configuration data. A data gathering agent in the ODS stores the usage data in records, combines the records into packets, and transmits the packets to the web services interface. The web services interface passes the packets onto the processing engine, which stores the records in the packet into a database. The generalized format of the record is critical because it allows the metrics to be stored in the record table with the usage data. When a record contains an instruction to close a UOW, the processing engine applies the configuration data comprising composition rules and record selection rules to the database. The record selection rules select the desired records from the database. The composition rules aggregate, normalize, and compose the selected records to produce a metric.
