  • Patent number: 7315231
Abstract: An electrical reactor assembly and method of assembly is disclosed. The reactor is formed from a combination of a magnetic T-core and a pair of magnetic L-cores. A plurality of comb-like separators is placed over a vertical portion of the T-core. A wire, with a rectangular cross-section, is wound about the vertical portion of the T-core thereby forming a coil. The comb-like separators electrically isolate the wire from adjacent windings and the T-core. The L-cores are attached to the T-core such that they flank two sides of the coil. A plurality of taps is formed on a side of the coil that is not flanked by one of the L-cores. The taps are formed by extending individual windings further from the T-core than other common windings. Preferably, a hole is formed through the rectangular wire at the taps to provide a secure electrical connection to the wire.

  • Patent number: 7312678
Abstract: The present invention provides a micro-electromechanical relay that can produce low electrical contact resistance, and is capable of mechanical latching. More specifically, the present invention combines the clamping actions of cantilever beams with a movable shuttle-like spacer to generate high contact forces at the metal-metal contacts of the micro-electromechanical relay, thereby producing a very low electrical contact resistance and a mechanism for mechanical latching. Methods of fabricating the micro-electromechanical relay are also provided in this invention, which offer the advantages of both design and fabrication flexibilities by processing the top and bottom substrates separately prior to joining them together.

  • Patent number: 7310036
Abstract: A resistor with heat sink is provided. The heat sink includes a conductive path having metal or other thermal conductor having a high thermal conductivity. To avoid shorting the electrical resistor to ground with the thermal conductor, a thin layer of high thermal conductivity electrical insulator is interposed between the thermal conductor and the body of the resistor. Accordingly, a resistor can carry large amounts of current because the high conductivity thermal conductor will conduct heat away from the resistor to a heat sink. Various configurations of thermal conductors and heat sinks are provided offering good thermal conductive properties in addition to reduced parasitic capacitances and other parasitic electrical effects, which would reduce the high frequency response of the electrical resistor.

  • Patent number: 7309841
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with cover assemblies for manually resetting pressure switches used on oil and gas pipelines. The cover assembly encloses a volume of space on the pressure switch that houses a reset switch which is activated by depressing a button located on top of the reset switch. The cover assembly has a housing with a rod or plunger extending through the housing. On the exterior end of the rod is a protective cap and on the interior is a flexible rubber hemispherical bumper. A spring disposed between the cap and the exterior side of the cover housing biases the bumper away from the button on the reset switch. In operation, the cap is pushed towards the housing causing the rod or plunger to advance towards and contact the reset switch button. The bumper deforms or balloons outward upon contact with the button so as to impart sufficient force to depress the button but not so much force so as to damage or break the reset switch itself.
