Abstract: A bow fishing reel for mounting on a bow. The reel provides an indicator for alerting a shooter when the reel is configured to fire safely. A main shaft in a body of the reel is positionable from a rearward winding position to a forward casting position by depressing a thumb button protruding the reel body. A thumb button structure engages with the main shaft for transitioning the main shaft from the rearward winding position to the forward casting position. A visual indicator displays a first indicator when the main shaft and thumb button are in the casting position. The visual indicator may be located on an indicator portion of the thumb button that is visible through an indicator window on a reel upper surface. The visual indicator may include a negative indicator and a positive indicator. A secondary negative indicator may also be provided on the thumb button.

Abstract: The spool brake device is equipped with a brake unit, a detector, and a controller. The controller controls the braking force by the brake unit based on the rotational speed of the spool detected by the detector. When the rotational speed is less than the predetermined rotational speed, the controller controls the braking force by the brake unit in the regular braking mode. In the regular braking mode, the controller changes the braking force by the brake unit according to the rotational speed. On the other hand, when the rotational speed is equal to or higher than the predetermined rotational speed, the controller controls the braking force by the brake unit in the emergency braking mode, during the period of predetermined time. In the emergency braking mode, the controller makes the braking force by the brake unit larger than the braking force in the regular braking mode.
Abstract: A method for controlling operation of a winch, which has a capstan drive unit for hauling a cable into the winch and for paying the cable out of the winch, a main drive for driving the capstan drive unit, a cable drum for receiving the cable by winding up and unwinding the cable, a drum drive for driving the cable drum, wherein the drum drive and the main drive are operable independently of one another, and a rotational speed measuring device which is arranged in a cable inlet portion of the winch. The method has a step of reading a first rotational speed from the main drive and a second rotational speed from the rotational speed measuring device. In addition, the method has a step of determining a torque value for setting a torque of the drum drive depending on the first rotational speed and the second rotational speed.
Abstract: A fishing reel includes a reel body having a front chamber and a rear chamber, a spool hub rotatably mounted in the rear chamber, a drive shaft having a rear shaft segment rotatably mounted in the front chamber, a drive tube sleeved on the drive shaft to be rotatable relative to the drive shaft, and an output wheel which is sleeved on the drive tube, and which is coupled to drive the spool hub to rotate. When the drive tube is driven to rotate, the output wheel is driven by the drive tube to rotate at a first speed. When the drive shaft is driven to rotate, the drive tube is driven by the drive shaft to rotate via a gear unit, to thereby drive the output wheel to rotate at a second speed different from the first speed.

Abstract: A pinion gear meshes with a drive gear. The drive gear is connected to a handle shaft of a fishing reel that winds a fishing line onto a spool supported by a reel body by rotational operation of the handle shaft rotatably supported to the reel body to transmit the rotation of the handle shaft. The pinion gear includes a gear portion and a shaft. The gear portion meshes with the drive gear. The shaft portion, to which the gear portion is non-rotatably fitted, is integrally rotatable with the gear portion. The gear portion and the shaft portion are formed from different materials, and the specific gravity of the shaft portion is smaller than the specific gravity of the gear portion.
