  • Patent number: 9407558
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method and system for automatic triggering network management (NM) control for Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) border elements (BE). The method detects call storm events by monitoring blocked call error messages and maintaining counts according to telephone number based control strings, and controls call storm events by limiting the admitted call rate for calls matching a control string according to an adaptive leaky bucket control. The control drain rate is updated periodically based on a calculated successful call rate and is set to somewhat exceed the successful rate. A control is automatically removed when no blocked calls are observed for a specific number of consecutive windows.

  • Patent number: 9386551
Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in an ad-hoc network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes generating, at a wireless communication apparatus, one or more messages identifying a second device to generate prospective synchronization messages. In some aspects, the second device is a back-up root device. The method further includes transmitting a synchronization message. In one aspect, a root device for an ad-hoc network is responsible for generating synchronization messages for nodes of the ad-hoc network. The root device also generates and transmits a message which identifies a back-up root device. The back-up root device may assume responsibility for generating synchronization messages for the ad-hoc network in the event that the wireless communication apparatus no longer generates synchronization messages for the ad-hoc network.

  • Patent number: 9319310
Abstract: A distributed switchless system characterized by full mesh connectivity is disclosed. The full mesh distributed switchless system allows direct and indirect communication between a source node and a destination node. In direct communication, data propagates via links connecting the source and destination nodes. In indirect communication, data is first sent to an intermediate node via links connecting the source and intermediate nodes. The intermediate node sends the data to the destination node via links connecting the intermediate node and the destination node. The traffic can be divided into all available links across the nodes, rather than only the links connecting the source and destination nodes. Because indirect communication uses more links compared to direct communication, the traffic in each link is smaller. Consequently, the switchless distributed interconnect system can operate with fewer links between any two nodes and links with smaller bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9307507
Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer program products for selective scanning of ad-hoc networks are described herein. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a message identifying a number of times the message has been forwarded. The method further includes selectively scanning for other ad-hoc networks based on the identified number. In one aspect, a root device for an ad-hoc network is responsible for generating synchronization messages for nodes of the ad-hoc network. The synchronization message includes a count of the number of times the synchronization message has been forwarded. When the hop count reaches a limit, the synchronization message is no longer retransmitted or forwarded by receiving nodes. Nodes receiving this message may recognize they are positioned near the edge of the ad-hoc network. In at least one embodiment, these nodes may selectively scan for other ad-hoc networks based on the hop count reaching or exceeding a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 9271296
Abstract: Resource blocks in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network may be allocated by determining a maximum number of user equipments (UEs) in the LTE network that are permitted to transmit in a time period using a given resource block. This maximum number of UEs may be determined according to an upper limit on the overall transmission power in the LTE network for the given resource block. The given resource block may be allocated in the time period to up to the maximum number of UEs based on each UE's geographic location within the network. Related systems, methods, and devices are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9270799
Abstract: An indirect communication system and a method of indirect communication include a mobile phone as either a calling device or receiving device. The mobile phone calls another device to set up a prospective communication, and then uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to communicate with the other device over the Internet. The receiving device receives a generated signal notifying the receiving device of a proposed communication with the calling device. A server sets up a meeting point channel after the calling device has connected to the server. The server receives outgoing VoIP packets from the calling device and redirects the outgoing VoIP packets to the receiving device.

  • Patent number: 9252965
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting a packet from a source switch module to a destination switch module. Embodiments receive, at a first port of a first switch module, a packet that includes (i) path information specifying a route to the destination switch module and (ii) a set of load/store operations to be executed by the destination switch module. An indication of the first port is inserted into a return path information portion of the received packet. Upon determining that the first switch module is not the destination switch module, embodiments transmit the packet to a second switch module using a second port, the second port specified in the path information of the received packet, wherein the destination switch module is configured, upon receiving the packet, to copy the set of load/store operations into an execution buffer to be automatically executed.

  • Patent number: 9237003
Abstract: In general, techniques are described that insert one or more bits into a digital bit stream to maintain an overall transition density in the digital bit stream. Maintaining the overall transition density facilitates the generation of a recovered clock by a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit of a receiver. For example, when a data transition ratio for a portion of the digital bit stream is less than a desired data transition ratio, the techniques insert additional bits to increase the overall transition density of the digital bit stream.

  • Patent number: 9231742
Abstract: A base station transmits a message comprising configuration parameters of first radio resources of a control channel. The first radio resources comprise one or more sets of resource blocks in a subset of subframes in a plurality of subframes. The base station transmits scheduling information on the control channel for a packet transmitted on an uplink data channel. The base station transmits a positive or negative acknowledgement on second radio resources of a feedback channel for the received packet. The second radio resources start from a first OFDM symbol of a second subframe.

  • Patent number: 9226337
Abstract: A first communication device listens, during advertise states of the first communication device, for probe requests from one or more second communication devices on a first channel included in a plurality of channels. At least some respective lengths of the advertise states of the first communication device are different. When one or more first probe requests are received from the one or more second communication devices during the advertise states of the first communication device, the first communication device transmits one or more first probe responses responsive to the one or more first probe requests. The first communication device transmits second probe requests on respective second channels during respective search states of the first communication device, and listens, during the search states, for one or more second probe responses on the second channels.
