Abstract: A seamed press felt formed from a base fabric having a CD width and an MD length with two opposing MD ends that are joined to form a continuous belt. MD oriented yarns form uniform loops at the two opposing MD ends that are interdigitated to define a pintle channel extending across the CD width. CD oriented yarns are connected to the MD oriented yarns, in a woven or non-woven construction. Loop open spaces are located within the loops on each of the two opposing MD ends in a seam region, with the loop open spaces being defined between a last one of the CD yarns at each of the two opposing MD ends and the pintle channel. At least one CD monofilament support yarn is located in the loop open spaces on each of the two opposing MD ends. The at least one CD monofilament support yarn has a diameter that is at least 1.6 times a diameter of the CD oriented yarns. A pintle extends through the pintle channel to form a seam.

The water-absorbing belt has at least a first ply and a second ply, and, as viewed in the thickness direction of the water-absorbing belt, a layer in or on the belt half which faces the pressing element, which layer has a higher specific throughflow resistance than the first ply and/or the second ply.
Abstract: A paper machine clothing has a substrate with an upper side, a lower side, two lateral edges and a usable region between the two lateral edges. The usable region is formed with a plurality of through-channels extending through the substrate and connecting the upper side with the lower side. The through-channels are non-cylindrical with a cross sectional area becoming smaller when going in a thickness direction of the substrate from the upper side to a middle region of the substrate between the upper side and the lower side, wherein a shape of the cross sectional area of at least one through-channel, preferably of all through-channels, of the plurality of through-channels changes proceeding in the thickness direction of the substrate from the upper side to the lower side.

Abstract: The novel tissue products of the present invention are generally produced by calendering a tissue basesheet using at least one patterned roll. In one embodiment the patterned roll replaces the flat steel roll commonly used in calendering. The elements on the patterned roll provide a means of providing a nip having variable loading that yields a web having a smooth surface without subjecting the web to excessive compression forces and preventing excessive caliper loss. Thus, webs converted according to the present invention have comparable or better surface smoothness compared to webs converted using conventional calendering means and also retain a greater percentage of their caliper and bulk.
