  • Patent number: 7756097
Abstract: A system (20) and method (50) of establishing a rapid push-to-send data exchange in a multi-wireless network environment can include a first wireless network (24 and 26) having a fast network channel to exchange an Internet Protocol (IP) address or other data, a second wireless network (23 and 27) operatively coupled to the first wireless network having a high bandwidth data channel to exchange data using the IP address in a wireless peer to peer data transfer, and a communication protocol. The first wireless network can be an iDEN network and the second wireless network can be a CDMA network. The communication protocol can relinquish (66) communication using the first wireless network once a dedicated data channel on the second wireless network is established. The communication protocol can also simultaneously transfer (56) voice traffic on the first network when the first network is exchanging the IP address.

  • Patent number: 7336938
Abstract: Rejection of local oscillator alias response is provided in a mixing circuit by (1) a switching mixer producing an output that changes at least twice between two states (e.g., high-low-high or low-high-low) during each local oscillator period, and (2) a charge integrator integrating current output from the switching mixer over the local oscillator period. The switching mixer and charge integrator produce a sampled data format, double sideband signal with serial cancellation of the switching mixer's alias responses. An extension unit connected in series with the switching mixer and charge integrator, and implementing a transform function computing a difference between consecutive samples, produces a cascading effect with the switching mixer and charge integrator, optionally producing additional nulls suppressing alias response at frequencies near the local oscillator frequency.

  • Patent number: 7333797
Abstract: A communication system reduces a likelihood that a call is set up with a wrong mobile station (MS) when a same Mobile Identification Number (MIN) is shared by multiple MSs by allocating duplicate physical layer parameters to each MS. In response to receiving a call, the system pages an MS. When the system receives a first page response from the first MS and a second page response from a second MS due to a shared MIN, the system allocates multiple duplicate physical layer parameters to each MS. The system then conveys a first channel assignment to the first MS and a second channel assignment to the second MS, wherein each channel assignment identifies the allocated multiple physical layer parameters. By allocating duplicate physical layer parameters to each MS, the intended MS is able to successfully set up a communication session regardless of an order of conveyance of the channel assignments.

  • Patent number: 7324481
Abstract: A radio transmitting apparatus that has a plurality of antennas and changes the number of modulated signals transmitted simultaneously according to the propagation environment and so forth. A transmission power changing section 12 of a radio transmitting apparatus of the present invention adjusts the pilot symbol signal level so as to match the data symbol composite signal level according to the number of transmit modulated signals set by a modulated signal number setting section 11. By this means, the operating range of received pilot symbols and the operating range of received data symbols become approximately the same on the receiving side, enabling pilot symbol quantization error to be reduced. As a result, the precision of radio wave propagation environment estimation, time synchronization, and frequency offset estimation using pilot symbols improves, and consequently data reception quality improves.

  • Patent number: 7299026
Abstract: From a delay profile, path selectors 105a˜105n discard the signals other than those corresponding to valid paths, such as noise, output the channel values, which are obtained through the selection of valid paths alone, to JD decoder 106, and output the received levels of the valid paths to multipliers 108a˜108n. JD decoder 106 performs joint detection operation and multiplies the operation result by a received signal that is output from delayer 103. Allocator 107 separates the soft decision data of individual users on a per user basis. Multipliers 108a˜108n multiply outputs of JD decoder and received levels output of path selectors 105a˜105n. Error correction decoder 109a˜109n performs the hard decision of the soft decision data so as to obtain each user's demodulation data.

  • Patent number: 7269396
Abstract: A method and a device for a receiver for electromagnetic waves having at least two antennas are described; using this method and this device it is possible to effectively suppress multipath interference, while a portion of the antenna signals may also be utilized for other purposes at least temporarily, e.g., to allow better utilization of the possibilities of RDS activities. To do so, a first antenna signal (1) is used as the basis for generating a playback signal (23) when the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is above a defined threshold for undisturbed reception—case 1. In this case 1, the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is determined. If the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) falls below this threshold—case 2—then a new signal y generated from at least two antenna signals (1, 2) is used as the basis for generating the playback signal (23).

  • Patent number: 7242936
Abstract: A multi-slope handoff algorithm for controlling dynamic communication quality in wireless communications is proposed to let a mobile node adjust the handoff slope according to different communication connection situations for setting the optimum add/drop connection trigger thresholds. The algorithm comprises the following steps. First, a mobile node receives pilot strengths of its service pilot and nearby pilots to produce an aggregate strength. Next, the mobile node determines whether to perform handoff according to the magnitude of the aggregate strength. The handoff action is then controlled by multi-slope handoff operations to set an appropriate slope and to calculate the add/drop connection trigger thresholds when performing handoff. Finally, the pilot to be connected is selected based on the communication quality at that time. In this way, the quality of the communication service can be enhanced, the connection power consumption can be lowered, and the communication channel usage can be reduced.
