  • Patent number: 10204523
Abstract: An enhanced runway awareness system and method directed to reducing audible alerts during runway selection is provided. The runway awareness system includes a navigation system, an audio system, and a control module. The control module receives and processes, from the navigation system, aircraft state data and runway position and location data. The control module determines that (a) the aircraft is approaching a first runway, and commands the audio system to emit an approach alert associated with (a); subsequent to commanding the audio system to emit the approach alert associated with (a), the control module prohibits the audio system from emitting an “on runway” alert associated with (a) responsive to determining that (b) the aircraft is on the first runway.

  • Patent number: 10112566
Abstract: In a collision prevention system, a control device defines a collision danger level X such that larger values indicate increased possibility of a following vehicle colliding into a host vehicle due to behavior of the host vehicle, and defines a proximity Pr such that larger values indicate shorter inter-vehicle distance or greater relative velocity between the host vehicle and the following vehicle. When a change in amount ?X/?t of the collision danger level X and a threshold value Kxa have a relationship Kxa??X/?t, the control device changes a first threshold value Kpr of the proximity Pr to a second threshold value Kpr? lower than the first threshold value Kpr, and actuates a warning device when the collision danger level X and the threshold value Kx have a relationship Kx?X and the proximity Pr and the second threshold value Kpr? have a relationship Kpr??Pr.

  • Patent number: 10106175
Abstract: Described are system and methods in which the speed of a service vehicle and the configuration of an extendable service component of the vehicle may be monitored. The vehicle can be driven with the extendable service component out of its home configuration as long as the speed is below a speed threshold. However, if the speed of the vehicle exceeds the speed threshold while the extendable service component is out of its home configuration, an extended service component alert signal is transmitted. Although a local alarm may (also) be provided to the vehicle operator, the extended service component alert signal is transmitted wirelessly and provides one or more alerts on at least one receiver remote from the vehicle, such as on a mobile phone of a supervisor who can take action. In some embodiments, the speed threshold may vary depending on the location of the vehicle.
