  • Patent number: 9621439
Abstract: Embodiments relate to dynamically allocating access to a shared resource based on quota shares. An aspect includes computing, by a client node, an expected size of quota shares needed by the client node based on a historical rate of resource consumption by the client node. The client node transmits a request for a count of quota shares based on the expected size. The client node receives an indication that the request for the count of quota shares is one of: granted, denied, and granted-in-part. The client node self-rules the shared resource based on the indication.

  • Patent number: 9532210
Abstract: A user device receives, from an application server, a catalog of available content. The catalog of available content includes content available for delivery via multicast over a broadband wireless spectrum. The user device provides, to the application server, an indication of a user's selection of particular content available for delivery via multicast over the broadband wireless spectrum. The user device receives, from a content server, the particular content via a multicast transmission over the broadband wireless spectrum. The particular content includes multiple individual segment files. The user device detects a corrupted or missing segment file from the multiple individual segment files and requests, from the content server, a replacement segment file corresponding to the corrupt or missing segment file. The user device receives, from the content server, the replacement segment file via a unicast transmission to provide a complete set of segment files for the particular content.

  • Patent number: 9485191
Abstract: A high-performance, scalable and drop-free data center switch fabric and infrastructure is described. The data center switch fabric may leverage low cost, off-the-shelf packet-based switching components (e.g., IP over Ethernet (IPoE)) and overlay forwarding technologies rather than proprietary switch fabric. In one example, host network accelerators (HNAs) are positioned between servers (e.g., virtual machines or dedicated servers) of the data center and an IPoE core network that provides point-to-point connectivity between the servers. The HNAs are hardware devices that embed virtual routers on one or more integrated circuits, where the virtual router are configured to extend the one or more virtual networks to the virtual machines and to seamlessly transport packets over the switch fabric using an overlay network. In other words, the HNAs provide hardware-based, seamless access interfaces to overlay technologies used for communicating packet flows through the core switching network of the data center.

  • Patent number: 9485201
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for partially authorizing a multi-target communication request. In use, a plurality of targets associated with a multi-target communication request are determined. Further, the multi-target communication request is automatically authorized, wherein the multi-target communication request includes a request to send at least one communication to each of the plurality of targets. Additionally, it is determined whether the multi-target communication request has been successfully authorized for each of the plurality of targets. Responsive to determining that the multi-target communication request has not been successfully authorized for at least one of the plurality of targets, the multi-target communication request is rolled back for only the at least one target.
