  • Patent number: 11896264
Abstract: Disclosed herein are push activated intraosseous (IO) access devices, and methods thereof. Embodiments include replaceable and rechargeable or non-rechargeable battery packs, or spring driven devices. Intraosseous access devices often require training to ensure correct placement of the access device. Users must coordinate the opposing actions of pulling proximally on a trigger, while applying sufficient distal drive force to penetrate the bone. Devices disclosed herein include an intuitive operation with a unidirectional activation and drive force application. Further the trigger is both activated and deactivated automatically to prevent premature activation and prevent “backwalling”. The device includes various indicators to further guide a user in placing the device correctly, with little or no training. Devices further include replaceable battery packs to ensure a full charge is available when the device is used, and to provide a multi-use device that requires less storage.

  • Patent number: 11896241
Abstract: Methods of harvesting cancellous bone and bone marrow include extracting loosened cancellous bone and bone marrow—including a liquid component thereof—to a collection container that has a first cup and a suction port to which a suction source is connected. After extraction, the suction source is disconnected and a lid of the collection container is removed and replaced with a lid having a plunger with a press head that is configured to filter the extracted liquid by depressing the plunger toward a bottom of the first cup. The filtered liquid is poured through a suction port into a second cup while depressing the plunger, thereby separating the liquid from a semi-solid mass of cancellous bone that remains. The bone is extracted through a cortical opening in the femur, tibia, or calcaneus, or from an intermedullary canal that is preferably formed by reaming of the tibia using an orthopedic reamer.

  • Patent number: 11877758
Abstract: Release System and Cutting Profile applied to disposable self-locking intracranial drill bit, comprising a disposable cranial drill bit, for single-use, assembled from a coupling mechanism with an internal drill bit and another external one, where an axial load is applied to the cutting edges to transmit the rotary movement to the device, so that, after accessing the cranial bone the mechanism is released and the drill bit ceases its movement, being the coupling mechanism composed by a mechanical arrangement of two sliding helical cams, which interact with a ring, the geometry of which results in coupling, when the drill bit contacts the cranial bone surface, and the drill bit release, once the internal drill bit crossed the bone without affecting the lower cranial layers. The set is encapsulated in a plastic body, which allows the drill bit assembly in a number of craniotomy equipment.
