  • Patent number: 6773385
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for inserting flexible bags and other liners into open packaging containers. One or more engagement heads engage and position the flexible liners in preparation for their insertion into open containers using an insertion assembly. One or more of the engagement heads are preferably made with vacuum heads that are movable to open the liner for the insertion assembly. A cuffing assembly can be included for cuffing the open end of the liners over the top edges of the open containers. Clamping assemblies can be included on the cuffing assembly to facilitate holding the liners during insertion and cuffing. The use of an engagement assembly, insertion assembly, and cuffing assembly which are independently driven helps to provide greater speed and operational flexibility.

  • Patent number: 6755773
Abstract: A double box glue and tape machine that includes upper and lower seam conveyors with separately positionable gluing conveyors and idler rollers, which allows the idler rollers to be moved out of the way so that the upper and lower seam gluing conveyors may be positioned opposite each other for simultaneous gluing of overlapping seams. The machine also includes a semi-automatic alignment and feed system that includes one or more remotely operable gates for blocking the entrance of a pair of box blanks into the machine to facilitate alignment of the box blanks prior to feeding them into the machine. The alignment and feed system may also include outboard rollers to provide lateral support to the box blanks, input guide rollers to direct the box blanks into the seam conveyors, a seam separator to facilitate separation of the seam around the glue head, and a cold glue flushing system.

  • Patent number: 6749551
Abstract: A container body with a container opening and a flap partially secured to the container body and completely covering the container opening is disclosed. The flap is secured to the container by a hinge or fold line and formed from the same substrate as the container body. The container body contains a first magnetic region adjacent to and surrounding the perimeter of the container opening. The flap contains a second magnetic region aligned with and opposite the container body's first magnetic region. The first and second magnetic regions are magnetically attracted to each other. The flap is held in a closed position by magnetic attraction between the flap's magnetic region and the container body's magnetic region.

  • Patent number: 6718727
Abstract: For supplying production and packaging machines, in particular for supplying lines (10, 11) for producing and packaging cigarettes, an intermediate store (12) is provided for storing packaging material, to be precise for pallets (20) with reels (18) of web-like material. Pallets (20) with the packaging material are fed to the intermediate store (12) by a pallet conveyor (28). A separate reel conveyor (48) transports reels (18), as required, to the individual machines and subassemblies of the lines (10, 11).

  • Patent number: 6672033
Abstract: System for delivering air-filled packing cushions to a point of use in which a continuous string of the cushions is fed into an elongated duct with the string extending longitudinally of the duct, and an air flow is established in the duct to convey the string of cushions through the duct. In one disclosed embodiment, the air flow is created by a blower mounted externally of the duct, with a baffle plate inside the duct directing the air flow in a longitudinal direction. In a self-contained system in which the cushions are made at the point of use, the duct extends vertically, and the cushions are fed directly into the lower end of the duct by a machine which makes them.

  • Patent number: 6673000
Abstract: Scrap cuttings are separated from a panel that was punched or cut from a sheet of material by providing a transport device (22) that attracts a sheet of material (10), supported by a platen (15) of a machining device (16), that was punched or cut via the attractive force of a first attraction surface (28). Subsequently, the transport device (22) is moved toward a second attraction surface (39) of a cutting separator (18) until the sheet of material (10) is lying on top of the second attraction surface (39); and the attractive force exerted in this position by the second attraction surface (39) is greater in the area of the cuttings (14) than the attractive force exerted by the first attraction surface (28), and the attractive force exerted by the second attraction surface (39) in the area of the panel (12) is smaller than the attractive force exerted by the first attraction surface (28).
