Patent number: 4131237Abstract: A spreading implement has laterally extending conveyors of different lengths that form a boom to each side of a hopper. At the outer ends of the conveyors, rotatable spreading discs are mounted spaced apart from one another and each conveyor is an endless belt in a channel shaped guide. A slideable flow control is positioned beneath a port in the bottom at each side of the hopper to regulate the amount of material fed to the conveyors. Driving means, including a power take-off connection and a belt and pulley transmission move the conveyors and rotate the discs. At the end of each conveyor, a downwardly extending guide allows material to flow to a lower disc. Each boom is pivoted to the implement frame with a latch and pivot connection to be displaceable about a vertical axis to a rearwardly extending transport position. Also, each boom is comprised of spaced apart beams that are comprised by two portions that are interconnected with a further pivot and a latch connection.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1975Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: C. van der Lely NVInventors: Ary van der Lely, Cornelis J. Patent number: 4131235Abstract: A dual-function valve assembly for an irrigation system typically having a plurality of sprinkler heads disposed at different elevations downstream from a control valve. A spring-loaded check valve prevents drainage of the sprinkler lines through the lower heads when the control valve is closed. A second valve in the assembly closes to prevent excessive flow if a sprinkler head is damaged or removed. The valve assembly is especially useful in unattended, automatically actuated irrigation systems.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1976Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: Irrigation Specialties CompanyInventor: Calvin A. Patent number: 4131320Abstract: Thin articles such as letters are conveyed over a supporting fluid layer formed against a track surface along which they move. This layer is built up by jets issuing from nozzles located on both sides of the track surface and opening flush with the latter. The nozzles are oriented towards the center line of the track with somme inclination in the direction of motion of the articles, in order that the velocity of the jets presents a longitudinal component parallel to this direction and a transverse component pointing towards the center of the track.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1975Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: BERTIN & CieInventors: Jean-Pierre Volat, Jean-Louis E. Patent number: 4131181Abstract: A portable lift for industrial uses in which an upright post is supported on a base and has a carriage slidably supported thereon. Load carrying members extend forwardly of the carriage and a pulley is mounted on the carriage and in a pulley housing mounted on top of the post. A winch is supported rearwardly of the post, and a cable passes from the winch through the pulley housing downwardly to and around the carriage pulley then upwardly through a conduit in the pulley housing and is tied off at the winch support. A brace extends downwardly from the winch support to the base thereby to provide counter acting balances for the load. The combination disclosed, permits loads twice the rated winch capacity to be lifted without rocking, tipping or other unwanted oscillatory movements in the device.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1977Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Inventor: Howard H. Patent number: 4130274Abstract: In a first embodiment a stop having a plurality of ports is connected to and covers an end of a rectangular sleeve. In a region near the stop a narrow wall of the sleeve also has a plurality of ports. A nozzle coupled to a pump provides a flow of air into the other end of the sleeve and the air exits through the ports. With this arrangement, a rectangular sheet inserted into said other end of the sleeve is fluidly brought into registration with the narrow wall and stop. In a second embodiment, similar to the first, the narrow wall and stop include internal projections against which an inserted sheet is registered. In a third embodiment, similar to the first, a manifold is coupled to the ports and a vacuum pump is coupled to the manifold to accelerate registration. In a fourth embodiment, similar to the third, the pumps are replaced with a reversible pump to register and discharge a sheet.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1977Date of Patent: December 19, 1978Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Klaus K.
