Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for the processing of receptacles containing heterogeneous inventory items in materials handling facilities are generally described. Dirty picking may be described as a mechanism for the “batch” processing of a receptacle which includes multiple heterogeneous inventory items with different identification codes in a materials handling facility as if all of the items in the receptacle have been ordered, even though one or more of the items may have not been ordered. Through the implementation of a dirty pick mechanism, instead of processing individual items in a receptacle, the entire receptacle may be “dirty picked” and all of the items within the receptacle may be processed “downstream” at a processing station, during which needed items for processing may be selected, and “overage” items may be put aside to be disposed, e.g. by being restocked.

Abstract: A method for searching a bill of materials (BOM) in a data processing system, a data processing system configured to perform a corresponding method, and a computer program product encoded with instructions for performing the method. The method includes retrieving BOM data in a data processing system, and forming a wavefront queue of a plurality of proto lines corresponding to the BOM data. The method also includes determining the cumulative geometric bounds of multiple ones of the plurality of proto lines and performing a geometric bounds test on the cumulative geometric bounds of multiple ones of the plurality of proto lines. The method also includes producing a BOM line to each proto line that passes the geometric bounds test, and adding the produced BOM lines to a candidate results list stored in the data processing system.

Abstract: A method and a system for determining taxes attributable to a financial transaction create a tax rate table, link an entity of the financial transaction to the tax rate table through a product rule, and calculate taxes based on the tax rate table according to one component of the financial transaction. The tax rate tables can be linked by a default product rule, which is a defined by a global variable. Alternatively, specific product rules can be used to link specific entities, such as tax jurisdiction records, or legal entity records. In one application, the method and the system calculate revenue tax, cost tax, input tax, and profits for each transaction. The method and the system may further include multi-currency support analysis for a financial transaction so that a financial transaction can be analyzed under a common currency, even though the financial transaction is conducted using one or more currencies in one or more jurisdictions.

Abstract: A method for providing users with financial reports over a computer network, comprising the steps of: storing respective financial performance data for each of a plurality of securities, each security underlying one of a plurality of structured securities transactions sold by issuers to investors; maintaining an electronic site on the computer network to which the users may connect; receiving search criteria over the computer network from at least one of the users for identifying at least a subset of the financial performance data; retrieving the subset of financial performance data identified by the search criteria, at least some of the subset of financial performance data being arranged in a time series; and providing at least one electronic screen to the at least one user over the computer network, the at least one screen including the subset of financial performance data.

Abstract: With the computer-aided performance of a work process in response to an order, in which billing information is prepared as a function of the urgency of the performance of the work process, automatically amended billing information is provided as a function of the urgency information supplied in the event of a change to the order of urgency after the placing of the order for the work process and the corresponding adaptation of the performance of the work process.

Abstract: Techniques for using transactional and visual event information to facilitate loss prevention are provided. The techniques include obtaining video of one or more visual events at a point of sale environment and one or more transaction log entries that correspond to the video, wherein the one or more transaction log entries comprise one or more transactional events, categorizing each event as one of one or more model events, using each categorized event to create a revised transaction log, wherein the revised transaction log comprises a sequence of categorized events, wherein each categorized event is a combination of the one or more transactional events and the one or more visual events, examining the revised transaction log to correct one or more mis-categorizations, if any, and revise one or more model event categories with the one or more corrected mis-categorizations, if any, and using the revised transaction log to facilitate loss prevention.

Abstract: A business method for distributing gifts. The method employs a gift wrap which is marked with a specific code number. The wrap is sold by an originator to a customer who places a gift within the wrap and mails or delivers the package to a first recipient. The customer inputs to the originator's website information comprising the wrap's code number, his name and address and the name and address of the first recipient. Then the first recipient inputs to the website information comprising the code number, his name and address and the name and address of any other recipient to whom the same wrap is sent with another gift. The information is sorted and stored in a database. The customer and first and any subsequent recipient of a wrap access the website over the internet to view the track history of the wrap.

Abstract: An inventory management method for managing an inventory of goods for a plurality of demand groups with each demand group having at least one service quality, the method includes determining a total safety stock level for the plurality of demand groups that satisfies the distinct service quality of each demand group, determining a shipment limit Zi for each demand group Gi, wherein goods are shipped for a demand group Gi only if the inventory of goods for the demand group Gi exceeds the shipment limit Zi. Also disclosed is a computer program product and a method for an inventory management service.

The electronic reporting process allows a user to report data and to file a declaration with the requesting agency. In particular, a tax agency can electronically request income tax information from a taxpayer. The taxpayer's employer can provide its employee's tax information electronically. The taxpayer can file a tax declaration with the tax agency electronically.

Abstract: Articles are placed in a commodity placement area thereby to acquire figure images of the articles, based on stored data acquired from wireless tags respectively attached to the articles. The acquired image forms are developed and displayed in X-axis and Y-axis directions in a display area of a display. A commodity registration screen that enables the choice of each article by an operation at a touch panel, e.g., a registration method selection dialogue, a voice registration dialogue, selection candidates, etc. are displayed on the display.

The integrated interface apparatus includes a base member, a vertical arm member, a display device and a data input device. The base member is configured to be disposed on a counter. The vertical arm member is operatively connected to the base member. The vertical arm member includes a terminal attachment member and a side attachment member below the terminal attachment member. The display device is operatively connected to the terminal attachment member and the data input device is operatively connected to the side attachment member.

Abstract: An announcement distributor distributes, or auctions an opportunity to distribute, an announcement to an announcement recipient such as a consumer, issuer, merchant, or acquirer within a payment processing system. The announcement is formed when there has been a satisfaction of an announcement condition, such as the consumer being determined to be located within a predetermined spatial zone. The content of the announcement may, in turn, facilitate a subsequent cashless transaction for resources of merchants. Implementations describe various permutations of the content of the announcement, the announcement condition, and the announcement recipient.

Abstract: A system and method for preparing a set of paired identification label based a plurality of characters that identify an inventory item. The method includes a step of assigning a predetermined numerical value to each of the plurality of characters. Mathematical operations are performed on the assigned numerical values to obtain a mapping of the plurality of characters to a corresponding non-textual visual indicator. A label is generated which label includes the plurality of characters and the visual indicator. The visual indicator may be a color or a graphic indicator such as an alignment designation bar or a combination and variation thereof.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a storage area is provided within a particular home for storing food-related items. A database of intended food-related inventory items for the storage area is adjusted by a controller according to food-related inventory preferences received at the controller. The controller updates the database of intended food-related inventory items according to inputs from a monitoring device that monitors the addition and removal of food-related items within the storage area. A communication medium coupled to the controller transmits a selection of items from among the database of intended inventory items that are absent from the storage area.

Abstract: A system and method for billing for network usage for broadcast transmission to broadcast message receiving devices located within a broadcast target area includes validating the broadcast message record for transmission over a broadcast transmission network and generating a validated broadcast message record as a function of the validating. The method also includes determining a density of broadcast receiving devices associated with the broadcast transmission network in the broadcast target area, calculating an area for message broadcast transmission within the broadcast target area served by the broadcast transmission network, and determining a length of the broadcast message contained within the validated broadcast message record.
