  • Patent number: 11630116
Abstract: An automated method for determining a coagulation result of a biological sample is presented. The method includes obtaining a time series representing measurement data of a sample. The time series spans a period in which a clotting reaction is supposed to take place. The method includes obtaining a global model function configured to model measurement data of a sample in which a clotting reaction takes place. The global model function is configured to model the measurement data as a sigmoidal shape with at least one inflection point. The absolute value of the maximum curvature of the sigmoidal shape is larger on one side of the at least one inflection point than on the other side. The method includes fitting the model function to the time series representing measurement data to obtain a fitted model function and determining a coagulation result of the sample based on the fitted model function.

  • Patent number: 11630145
Abstract: Examples of operating an Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) during power swings, are described. In an example, voltage measurements for a phase is received and sampled. Root mean square (RMS) values of the voltage samples is calculated based on the voltage measurements. Delta quantities for each phase are calculated based on the RMS values. Each of the RMS values and delta quantities are associated with respective sampling instants. In response to a delta quantity being greater than a predefined threshold, a peak delta quantity is detected. A time interval between a sampling instant associated with the peak delta quantity and a sampling instant associated with a first delta quantity is determined. Based on a comparison of the time interval with a threshold time, a disturbance condition may be detected as a power swing and consequently, fault detection at the IED may be blocked.

  • Patent number: 11598800
Abstract: Distance protection for electric power delivery systems that include an unconventional source is disclosed herein using apparent impedance independent of memory and cross-phase polarizing. The apparent impedance may be compared with an offset distance operating characteristic. Fault direction is determined by using zero-sequence ground directional logic for phase-to-ground faults. For phase-to-phase faults, fault direction is determined using weak-infeed directional logic. Fault direction may further use incremental quantity directional principles. The distance protection may further determine a faulted loop using voltage logic. The distance protection may select between traditional distance protection and the methods described herein based on the current feeding the fault.

  • Patent number: 11592498
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for identifying multiple faults across multiple phases of a multi-phase and/or multi-section capacitor bank. A protection device may measure various voltages and currents within the capacitor bank. A phase angle of the measured voltages and currents may be used to determine a location of the faults therein. For example, a phase angle of a compensated unbalance voltage may be compared to a phase angle of a positive-sequence voltage of the capacitor bank. A logic controller may use a difference between the phase angle of the compensated unbalance voltage and the phase angle of the positive-sequence voltage to determine a location (e.g., a phase and/or a section of the capacitor bank) of the faults in the capacitor bank.
