  • Patent number: 9407455
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide redundant connectivity between an Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS) access network and a Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) network. A first VPLS node is provided to function as an EAPS controller node. A second VPLS node is provided to function as an EAPS partner node. The first and second VPLS nodes are linked by a pseudowire and an EAPS shared-link. Additional EAPS nodes are also provided. The additional EAPS nodes are linked to each other and one of the additional EAPS nodes is designated as a master node. Links are also established between the VPLS nodes and the EAPS nodes such that one or more EAPS rings are formed. Each EAPS ring includes the shared-link between the first and second VPLS nodes. The EAPS rings are monitored to detect link failures.

  • Patent number: 9408110
Abstract: A network includes a Mobile Station (MS) for sending a Service Flow (SF) modification request message to a Base Station (BS) to modify an SF. The BS sends a path modification request message to a serving SF Authorization (SFA) when there is the information on the SF. The BS also sends an SF modification response message comprising a Confirmation Code ‘Reject SF not found’ to the MS when there is no information on the SF. The serving SFA sends a resource reservation request message to an anchor SFA when there is the information on the SF, and sends a path modification response message comprising a Failure Indication (FI) ‘Requested Context Unavailable’ to the BS when there is no information on the SF. The anchor SFA sends a resource reservation response message comprising the FI ‘Requested Context Unavailable’ to the serving SFA when there is no information on the SF.

  • Patent number: 9401816
Abstract: A system and method to provide a protection ring in an Audio Visual Bridging (AVB) network is provided. The method includes the steps of monitoring a first status of links coupled to a plurality of devices in a ring network, receiving a second status of links of other devices in the ring network, and signaling devices in the ring network to generate a logical loop-free topology based upon a stored static physical configuration, the first status of the links and the second status of links of other network devices in the ring network. The method also includes the step of determining an allocation of flows to links based on stored flow characteristics. Determining an allocation of flows to links includes programming a transmit scheduler to provide a first percentage of bandwidth for Audio Video Bridging (AVB) flows while reserving a second percentage of bandwidth for non-AVB flows.

  • Patent number: 9397951
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program are provided for quality of service using multiple flows. At a first digital device, a plurality of inter-computer flows is established between the first digital device and a computer. A plurality of inter-device flows is also established between the first digital device and a second digital device via a communication network. At least one flow metric associated with each of the inter-device flows is determined, which may include, for example, a latency metric, a loss metric, and/or a re-ordering metric. According to various embodiments, flow metrics may form a basis for categorizing the inter-device flows. One or more preferred flows are selected based on the flow metrics. Finally, a packet to be sent to the second device is directed to one of the preferred flows.

  • Patent number: 9397745
Abstract: A hybrid satellite-mesh network including a ground segment, a mobile segment and a satellite segment provides high bandwidth communication between mobile platforms and the Internet. The satellite segment is used only when mesh network communication links between mobile segment nodes and ground segment nodes are unavailable. Mobile segment nodes can function in either an access terminal mode or an access point mode to communicate with other mobile segment nodes according to a routing algorithm in a mesh portion of the network. Mobile segment nodes employ adaptive frequency reuse, link level date rate adaptation, link level power control and adaptive beam forming antennas.

  • Patent number: 9386549
Abstract: Synchronization in a communication system A method and apparatus for a communication system is disclosed. In the system communications occur via a multiple of nodes each providing a stratum for synchronization. It is determined that the stratum of a node is not included in a predefined set of stratums. In response to said determination synchronizing with the node is provided differently from nodes with stratums without taking the order of the stratum into account. Information about the status can be communicated between nodes.

  • Patent number: 9338531
Abstract: A multiplexer capable of automatically and dynamically selecting a correct or the best input out of a pre-configurable set of alternative inputs, based on the current status of the alternative inputs. An input status-sensitive, dynamic, M-by-M digital cross-connect can be formed out of an arrangement of M (an integer) instances of such input-controllable dynamic M:1 multiplexers. An application is an SDH/SONET cross-connect system that is able to perform a protection-switch for any number, up to all, of its output paths, simultaneously, if necessary, thereby enabling a short and deterministic latency for individual-path-granular protection-switch process for cross-connects of unlimited capacity. Another application is an SDH/SONET path that can be dynamically shared, even at a single time-slot granularity, among multiple path sources.
