Abstract: An apparatus and method for recovering abnormal control cells in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) exchange subscriber unit. A signal cell or control cell is transmitted and a plurality of reception first-in first-out memories (FIFOs) are sequentially checked to determine whether a new cell has arrived. If there is no start of cell (SOC) signal in an initial byte of a current cell under the condition that a cell synchronization loss signal is present in the current cell, or if the SOC signal is detected during transfer of the current cell, the current cell is determined to be abnormal. If the cell synchronization loss signal is abnormal, the current cell is discarded and an associated FIFO is fully emptied to recover cell synchronization.

  • Patent number: 7161916
Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting data rates at which to transmit data over a primary uplink in the presence of one or more secondary uplink channels. One embodiment comprises a method including determining probabilities associated with numbers of attempted transmissions of data, determining the number of times pending data transmissions have been attempted, determining probabilities associated with the data transmissions, and allocating power for transmission of the data in a succeeding frame based upon the associated probabilities. In one embodiment, a highest supportable data rate for a primary uplink is initially selected. Then, power is allocated for a minimum set of channels on the primary uplink. Then, power is allocated for pending data transmissions on the secondary uplink. A maximum power level for the transceiver is then adjusted to account for the allocated power, and the highest supportable data rate for the primary uplink is recomputed.

  • Patent number: 7154859
Abstract: A method for improving data throughput across a local area network (LAN) that is adapted for use onboard an aircraft (mobile LAN) and that may also be connected to at least one wide area network (WAN). To improve data throughput across the computer network, the mobile LAN's system software automatically evaluates and modifies, if necessary, the operation parameter settings of a personal computer connected to the mobile LAN. The present invention also discloses a real-time throughput optimization procedure that is comprised of sending a series of sample file types to a predetermined recipient and setting the operational parameter settings on the user's PC and the data packet size to a set of values that produce the fastest throughput for the file type associated with the user's primary activity.

  • Patent number: 7136395
Abstract: Headerless (i.e., zero byte) data packets are sent by a compressor over a radio bearer. The radio bearer includes a synchronized wireless link. A sequential timer-based value is associated with each of the headerless data packets. A decompressor generates a header based on the sequential timer-based value associated with a given received headerless data packet. A data packet having a compressed header is sent periodically over the synchronized wireless link. The data packet having the compressed header can also be sent when the compressor detects changes in slowly-varying header fields, in response to feedback received from the decompressor indicating that a decompression context is out of synchronization and/or just before talk spurts occur.

  • Patent number: 7116673
Abstract: A method for determining parameters needed to communicate with a remote node in a computer network is provided. The invention comprises determining the location of the remote node to which an InfiniBand (IB) node might desire to communicate. This resolution comprises determining the location of the remote node based on a desired application or service, and then determining the IB parameters needed to communicate with the remote node. The resolution might also involve determining the specific queue pairs that associated with the service dynamically. The general solution is applied to IP service resolution.

  • Patent number: 7061888
Abstract: When a base station and a plurality of terminal stations communicate with each other by radio, reception situations of signals transmitted from a base station are measured by respective terminal stations and measured information is transmitted to the base station. When the base station adaptively sets processing of signals transmitted to the respective terminal stations based on the transmitted information and multiplexes and transmits, from the base station to a plurality of terminal stations, power control information (RPC) for instructing electric power of signals transmitted from the respective terminal stations to the base station, transmission energy to individual terminal stations are set adaptively and transmission electric power at the respective terminal stations are set based on the power control information.

  • Patent number: 7054334
Abstract: The invention has an object of enhancing the service capacity and the operability of a network and simplifying the maintenance and control of the network by adopting a size automatic change mode after a path is set and providing arbitrary pathsize at arbitrary time. To achieve the object, the following means is provided. The service capacity and the operability of a network are enhanced and the maintenance and control of the network are simplified by adopting a size automatic change mode that the size of an input path signal conforms to information written to line overhead H1 and H2 bytes and an output path signal is transmitted with the pathsize the same as the size of the input path signal. A case that receiving path size changes exceeding a band and the fault of a path is caused occurs by providing both modes of fixing pathsize and automating pathsize to a user, flexibly corresponding to various service and automatically changing pathsize.

  • Patent number: 7046661
Abstract: A pipeline-based matching scheduling approach for input-buffered switches relaxes the timing constraint for arbitration with matching schemes, such as CRRD and CMSD. In the new approach, arbitration may operate in a pipelined manner. Each sub-scheduler is allowed to take more than one time slot for its matching. Every time slot, one of them provides a matching result(s). The sub-scheduler can use a matching scheme such as CRRD and CMSD.

  • Patent number: 7039070
Abstract: Error correcting section holds PTS(n?1) and DTS(n?1) of the frame immediately preceding the current frame and the most recent CPTS as determined to be correct in the past. The time stamp of the current frame is determined to be incorrect if (1) CPTS>PTS(n) which is the current frame or (2) CPTS<PTS(n) and greater than the time interval of time information B_TS(n)?B_TS(n?1) plus a reference time (e.g., the multiple of the standard frame interval 33 msec of moving images using 30 frames per second). If the PTS(n) of the current frame is correct, it is used as reproduction timing and updates the CPTS, using the PTS(n). If, on the other hand, the PTS(n) of the current frame is incorrect, it is not used and the time obtained by adding the CPTS and B_TS(n)?B_TS(n?1) is used as corrected PTS(n).

  • Patent number: 7023258
Abstract: A plurality of first transistors are connected in series between the first terminal and the second terminal. A plurality of second transistors are connected in series between the first terminal and the third terminal. One end of a resistor is connected to the first terminal, and the other end of the resistor is grounded. Either the first transistor or the second transistor is controlled to be ON. A resistance value of the resistor is set at such a value that a difference between a gate voltage of the first or second transistor being ON and a pinch-off voltage of the first or second transistor being ON is set greater than the amplitude of the potential of the first terminal which varies upon reception of a signal flowing to the first terminal. In this structure, the first and second transistors are appropriately operated regardless of signal frequency.

  • Patent number: 6909704
Abstract: When a base station and a plurality of terminal stations communicate with each other by radio, power control information for controlling electric power of a signal transmitted to the base station is multiplexed at the base station and transmission energy is adjusted such that total transmission energy of the multiplexed power control information becomes substantially a predetermined value if the total transmission energy of the multiplexed power control information is lower than a predetermined value. Therefore, information such as power control information that should be individually instructed to respective terminal stations can satisfactorily be transmitted by a simple arrangement and a simple processing.
