  • Patent number: 7371117
Abstract: An electrical connector with electrically lossy materials bridging ground members. The lossy conductive members may be formed by filling a settable binder with conductive particles, allowing the partially conductive members to be formed through an insert molding process. Connectors assembled from wafers that contain signal conductors held within an insulative housing may incorporate lossy conductive members by having filled thermal plastic molded onto the insulatative housing. The lossy conductive members may be used in conjunction with magnetically lossy materials. The lossy conductive members reduce ground system do resonance within the connector, thereby increasing the high frequency performance of the connector.

  • Patent number: 7371103
Abstract: A connector, such as an edge card connector, is provided with positive locking ejection latches. The positive locking of the ejection latches ensure that an associated card inserted into the connector will not accidentally be ejected under shock and vibration conditions. To use the ejection latches, a locking member provided in association with the ejections latches must be disabled.

  • Patent number: 7351076
Abstract: A parallelepiped-shaped plastic cover for a PCI express ×16 connector array has a top defining a window. Some but not all of the connector array elements are blocked by the top when the cover is positioned over the connector array, so that in the event that the associated computer is not configured for receiving components requiring connections to all elements of the PCI express ×16 connector array, a user cannot unwittingly plug such a component into the PCI express connector array but can only plug in, through the window, components requiring fewer than all connector elements.

  • Patent number: 7341465
Abstract: An electrical card connector (100) for electrically connecting with an electrical card (6) includes an insulator (1) defining a receiving space (14), a number of contacts (2) retained in the insulator, a pair of latching portions (45) and a shield (5) covering the insulator (1). The shield includes a pair of fingers (512) corresponding to the latching portions (45). Each finger defines a cantilever (5121) extending into the receiving space (14) and a latch member (5122) for engaging with the latching portion (45). When a complementary card is inserted into the connector, it abuts against the cantilever (5121) and lifts the latch member (5122) outwardly. The latch member (5122) disengages from the latching portion (45). The card is further inserted in the connector and electrically connects the contacts thereof.

  • Patent number: 7338291
Abstract: An intermediate electrical connector device, which easily enables “floating”, includes an intermediate board (20) having two connecting sections (23A) and (24A), which are respectively formed at the edges (23) and (24), to connect between two connecting bodies (40) and (40?), and a holding body to hold the intermediate board between two connecting sections. The holding body is divided into a plurality of sub-members (10) and (10?) at a surface perpendicular to the fitting direction between the two connecting bodies. The intermediate board is held by one of the sub-members through at least partial fitting, and forms space from another sub-member. The sub-members can be displaced relative to each other on the surface perpendicular to the fitting direction at least one direction parallel and perpendicular to the intermediate board.

  • Patent number: 7316590
Abstract: An electronic data connector of a wireless communication device for receiving a male section of a different electronic connector includes an electronic data connector receptacle universal to different electronic connectors and having a female section with a recess for receiving the male section of the different electronic connectors. A changeable connector key is carried by the electronic data connector receptacle and includes one or more positive material obstructions that obstruct one or more portions of the recess of the female section so that only an electronic connector with a male section configured to accommodate the positive material obstructions will mate with the electronic data connector receptacle.

  • Patent number: 7303422
Abstract: An implantable electrical connector includes a male portion and a female receptacle. The male portion includes a number of wires that terminate in a pattern of conductive areas. The male portion is inserted into a female receptacle and guides in the female receptacle limit the insertion of the male portion to a single direction. A locking mechanism such as a setscrew on the female receptacle forces conductive areas of the exposed conductors onto connecting pins within the female receptacle. The setscrew itself is electrically isolated from the conductive areas. Each pin in the female receptacle is surrounded by a rigid seal that engages a compressible insulating member under compression of the locking mechanism to prevent an electrical connection forming between adjacent pins in the connector.
