  • Patent number: 8271207
Abstract: Absolute quantitation of protein in a sample is provided by comparing a sum or average of the N highest ionization intensities observed for peptides of a particular protein along with a calibration standard. The calibration standard can be in the form of a table generated by prior protein peptide analysis performed using one or more pre-determined proteins. The comparison is used to determine a corresponding absolute quantity of protein based on the observed sum or average of ionization intensities. A simple conversion factor can be applied to the calibration standard value to determine the absolute quantity of protein in the sample.

  • Patent number: 8255167
Abstract: Methods, software, and systems are provided for determining the probability of an overlap set of entities having an overlap size, where the overlap set is independently selected from two sets of non-identical entities. Applications of the invention to microarrays are provided. Probability distributions are provided for determining the probability that the size of an overlap gene set from two different microarrays occurs by chance. Microarray analysis for determining the size of a statistically significant overlap gene set given two different microarrays is described. Overlap set size probability determinations that account for the total number of genes in two different microarrays and not just the common genes are described.

  • Patent number: 8214174
Abstract: An algorithm for determining a polarization curve of a fuel cell stack. When the fuel cell stack is running and certain data validity criteria have been met, the algorithm goes into a data collection mode where it collects stack data, such as stack current density, average cell voltage and minimum cell voltage. When the stack is shut down, the algorithm uses a cell voltage model to solve a least squares problem to estimate predetermined parameters that define the polarization curve. If the estimated parameters satisfy certain termination criteria, then the estimated parameters are stored to be used by a system controller to calculate the polarization curve of the stack.

The processor defines a second measurement range within which the measurement signal is dependent on the second measurement and not the first measurement. The first and second ranges meet at a predetermined transition. The first and second measurements are different at the transition and the measurement embodied in the measurement signal crosses the transition without an abrupt change.

  • Patent number: 8185334
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are related to systems and methods for removing spikes and/or speckle noise from a digital signal. In some embodiments of the present invention, an input signal is filtered according to a first low pass filter. The low pass filtered signal, also considered a first local-mean signal, is subtracted from the input signal, thereby producing an AC signal. A maximum of a first region associated with the AC signal and a maximum of a second region associated with the AC signal are determined. When the maximum of the first region and the maximum of the second region meet a comparison criterion, coefficients for a second low pass filter are determined. The input signal is filtered according to the second low pass filter, thereby producing a second local-mean signal, and a second AC signal is produced by subtracting, from the input signal, the second local-mean signal.

  • Patent number: 8185338
Abstract: A low pin interface module is provided for testing an integrated circuit. The interface module includes an input-output module, a controlling module, a processing module and a storage module specific to the integrated circuit to be tested. The interface module reduces the required number of hardware pins in the integrated circuit for a standalone testing without limiting the integrated circuit testing features. A methodology and a control mechanism achieved with the interface module can be used for the standalone testing of any integrated circuit without using a Joint European Test Action Group test logic interface JTAG implemented following the IEEE Standard 1149.1-1990. The interface module is not limited by a particular debugging platform and allows access to all test features in the integrated circuit with a reduced number of hardware pins and thereby leading to enhanced testing speeds on a tester in parallel and a shorter time-to-a market cycle and a lower development cost.
