  • Patent number: 5318378
Abstract: A sensor measuring support strut pressure on a cold planer provides a signal for controlling extension of the struts to maintain contact between the ground and the strut in the event of a kickback. Rotation of the planing cylinder is also interrupted in response to the signal, and resumption of vehicle operation is prevented until the support strut pressure is sufficient to enable the operator to control movement of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5096407
Abstract: Fluted roller for a single face corrugator comprising grooves extending around the periphery thereof, the bottom of the grooves being deeper than the bottoms of the corrugation of the fluted roller, wherein the grooves extend at an angle unlike 90.degree. to a surface line of the roller running parallel to the axis thereof.

  • Patent number: 5090630
Abstract: A bale shredder is provided with a loading fork along a side of the shredder that will lift a first bale from the ground and move it into the shredder. The loading fork includes a support platform portion that is used for lifting and supporting a second bale with a first bale remaining in the bale shredding chamber, so that both bales can be transported to a location for shredding. The fork is operated by a single hydraulic cylinder that will tilt the bale into a position on a main support platform, and which has a slide plate that moves the bale closer to the chamber when the fork is tilted upwardly a sufficient amount. Further upward tilting causes the bale to tumble into the bale chamber for shredding.

  • Patent number: 5031304
Abstract: A compliant device holding the work-piece part in an assembly, grinding, sanding or polishing process has a rotational compliance which matches the rotational compliance of a compliant device holding the work tool part or part to be assembled with the receiving part. A contact force between the two parts thus causes each part to rotate the same amount about any axis perpendicular to the direction of relative motion between the two compliant devices, thereby preserving the relative orientation of the two parts.

  • Patent number: 4985980
Abstract: A method of forming a net is set forth including the steps of providing a beverage container defined by plural pairs of aligned perimeter encompassing circumferential bands to secure beverage containers therewithin. The container includes a series of diametrically aligned straps and buckles for securement of the packages together to form a net, whereafter unutilized straps and bands are severed from the associated bands with securement straps secured at ends of the net to enable securement of the net to support objects.

  • Patent number: 4783898
Abstract: A method of producing a shaft having plate-like member joined thereto comprises the steps of forming a through hole in the plate-like member, forming an annular groove in the inner surface of the through hole of the member, making the surface of the annular groove rugged by knurling, forming an annular projection on a shaft the outer diameter of the annular projection being substantially equal to or slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the through hole of the plate-like member inserting the shaft into the through hole of the plate-like member so that the annular groove is positioned between both sides of the annular projection supporting the side of the plate-like member and an end portion of the shaft and pressing substantially the whole of the side face of the annular projection of the shaft so that a part of the annular projection of the shaft plastically deforms and flows into the annular groove of the plate-like member, whereby the plate-like member is rigidly joined to the shaft.
