Abstract: An improved fully folded signature for subsequent use in gathering and combining or binding in bookbinding. The fully folded signature includes uniquely positioned perforated folds and sequences of folding which reduces folding time, alter folded signature orientation during gathering, and eliminates the need for having a conventional backbone.

Abstract: Disclosed is (1) a method of manufacturing a binder product, (2) an apparatus for use in operations for manufacturing binder products, (3) an improved binder which utilizes a rigid and arcuate spine board, and (4) an improved binder product with lid boards which are of a size in the range of industry standard sizes, but which are capable of fully enclosing tabbed document archiving office products.

Abstract: A label assembly is provided allowing the aesthetic packaging of vegetables, other food items, or other products, for point of purchase display in a simple, versatile and effective manner. First and second flexible strips of material (e.g. paper or plastic) have a header formed at one end and are overlapped at the other end to be held together by adhesive. An adhesive pattern of discrete spaced adhesive elements is provided on the inner face of at least one of the strips and engages the container or covering of a product being packaged so that the label assembly does not inadvertently detach from the package. The label assembly is particularly suited for use with a microwavable tray having an open top covered by plastic shrink wrap and containing vegetables (there being no adhesive where the label covers the open top), or for encircling a number of low density polypropylene bags (e.g. containing vegetables) which are held together by the label assembly.

Abstract: A printer blank for a computer system printer is disclosed. The blank has a contiguous pressure adhesive backed label section and may also have a larger plain paper section separated from the label section by a perforation line. The label section is comprised of a plurality of adhesive backed labels and a backing sheet, including a main label portion and at least one smaller auxiliary label. A preferred blank comprises a plurality of auxiliary labels. In use, at least one, but preferably not all, of the auxiliary labels on such a preferred blank are simultaneously removed from the backing sheet with the main label portion. Any auxiliary label(s) simultaneously removed with the main label but not printed upon are readily separated from the main label.

Abstract: A file fastener, which is of a flat metal strip having top and bottom surfaces with narrow side surfaces therebetween, includes an elongate body portion. A prong extends from each end of the body portion, with at least the side surfaces of the prongs having a protective coating. The invention extends to a string of file fasteners, each file fastener being of a flat metal strip and having an elongate body portion. A prong extends from each end of the body portion, with the file fasteners being connected via frangible bridges. The invention also extends to a method of manufacturing file fasteners.

Abstract: A label assembly includes a label having pre-printed indicia or a printable face on an information side and a pressure sensitive adhesive on a back side. The label is releasably adhered to a front side of a transparent sheet. The transparent sheet includes a pressure sensitive adhesive on a back side thereof releasably adhered to a carrier sheet. The label assembly includes a label that can be printed by the ultimate user. The label can then be removed from the transparent sheet and applied to an article. The transparent sheet can then be removed from the backing sheet and applied over the label to provide a protective cover for the label.

Abstract: A holder apparatus acts in frictional cooperation with books, notebooks, folders, and other hand held rigid or semi-rigid binders containing reading material. The bolder allows one-handed manipulation of the book, notebook, folder, or binder free of accidental dropping or slipping. A strap having inelastic and elastic portions, and fasteners on each free end, allows the strap to encircle the book, notebook, folder or binder. A strap having a single inelastic or elastic portion, and fasteners, allows the strap to encircle the book, notebook, folder or binder. The fasteners releasably attach the strap to the book, notebook, folder or binder. A hand piece attached to the strap is adapted to receive a person's hand and allows easy manipulation and holding of the book, notebook, folder or binder. The hand piece is adjustable to accommodate both large and small hands of a user.

Abstract: A golf score booklet is provided. The booklet has a plurality of pages bound at a center line and graphically depicting the holes of a golf course. The booklet further includes a score card bound to the pages at the center line. The score card has a first section extending from the center line and a second section extending from the first section and attached thereto along a fold line. The second section has a scoring grid thereon. The booklet when opened to the score card may be held flat in a fashion that provides for planar view of a first page and its respective golf hole depiction, a second page and its advertisement and the second section and a scoring grid thereon for the depicted golf hole of the first page. A process is also provided for making enhanced graphic depictions of the golf course holes for the booklet, and preferably use laser measurement for determining the distance from the center of the green to landmarks.

Abstract: To prevent unauthorized duplication of important security documents, an improvement in security or protected documents is disclosed. The security document includes a substrate having top and bottom surfaces where at least one of the surfaces is adapted to carry printed copy thereon. A colored background is printed on at least a portion of one of the surfaces, such as the surface which is adapted to carry printed copy, using a temperature sensitive ink. The security document also includes copy printed on at least a portion of the one of the surfaces adapted to carry printed copy thereon. With these features of construction, the security or protected document contemplates the copy being printed by utilizing a temperature insensitive ink.

Abstract: A documentation system that allows adequate control of documentation in addition to an assessment of skills of the professionals involved includes a plurality of notepads, each notepad dedicated to a particular disease process or body system. Each of the notepads has disposed therein a plurality of adhesive-backed labels, each label providing a checklist of assessment steps or an anatomical diagram of a particular body system. The labels are operable to be removed and temporarily placed on the chart of the patient during an acute episode, incident, or accident, or may be permanently placed in the patient's chart to describe adequately the patient's condition. In addition, the anatomy labels are operable to be removed from the notepad and given to the patient to assist the patient in understanding his/her disease process or medical condition. Also included is an optional Charting Reminder Tool form, operable to be placed in the patient's chart for attachment of the labels.

Abstract: This invention provides a system for management of data collected over the course of a pregnancy which allows the physician to make better use of patient data in the ascertainment and treatment of potentially pathological conditions and which facilitates transfer of patient data to computer memory. The system includes a chart upon which a data point are indicated by placement of a mark relative to a vertical measurement axis and a horizontal gestational week time axis. Data expressed on the chart provide a retrospective graphical representation of developmental progress through the date of the most recent entry. Data from the chart may be transferred into computer memory with a laser scanner. A marking implement to facilitate scanning is also included.

Abstract: In a binding assembly for binders for holding a number of sheets of paper detachably bound together, the clamping unit, which includes a pair of metallic clamping plates for holding the paper therebetween, is detachably latched to a holder base which is in turn permanently attached to the binding of a binder. The clamping unit is provided with a bar extending across a cutout provided in a lower edge of each clamping plate, and the bar latches onto a latching mechanism provided in the holder base. Either one of the clamping plates may be selectively latched onto or unlatched away from the holder base while the other clamping plate is kept hinged to the holder base. The latching mechanism includes a pair of latch members made of plastic material, and slidably retained by a metallic base plate of the holder base, and the load applied to the clamping unit is primarily supported by the metallic base plate for minimizing the load applied to the latch members.

Abstract: Validation sticker mounting system and components for such a system. The components include stickers and substrates adapted in a coordinated manner. The substrates have a surface portion having a recessed segment into which the sticker is to be applied. The stickers, which are adapted for presentation of readable information and bonding to the substrate, have one or more security openings through which a post on the surface of the substrate extends.

Abstract: An apparatus for delivering categorized information includes a information storage device designed to retain detailed information divided into categories, including a mechanism for accessing the information by category, and a information indexing assembly including a display structure having several display members and having holding structures for the display members connected to the display structure so that the display members are simultaneously displayed. Each display member has a display face with one of the information categories marked on the display face. At least one of the display members functions to direct an observer to one given information category within the information storage device and functions to remain in the possession of an observer as a reminder of the given information category and of the information retrieved about the given information category. The display member is preferably a business card.

Abstract: A binder with cover spacer which restrains the covers of a binder in a near-parallel relationship to enable the binder to be stored in a stacked or shelved manner. The binder of the invention is comprised of a back portion, or spine, which determines the width of the closed binder, and generally two covers hingedly attached to the spine. The cover spacer of the invention comprises a first base portion affixed to one of the covers of the binder near the distal, or outer, edge of the cover. A stand-off element is hingedly attached to the first base portion, such that the stand-off element is moveable from a position approximately parallel to the cover, essentially laying flat against the cover, to a position approximately perpendicular to the cover. A second base portion is affixed to the other cover in a position generally opposite to the first base portion.

Abstract: This invention relates to improvements and modifications to a rock crusher. The rock crusher has at least two jaws the jaws being driven at different ends to each other. The non-driven end of at least one jaw is sufficiently free to allow vertical movement of that jaw with respect to the other jaw. This vertical movement imparts a grinding action in addition to the crushing action of the rock crusher. This removes the problems which can occur with wadding and can produce a very fine ground rock.

Abstract: A dictionary provided on inner pages with letter indexes capable of conveniently and rapidly searching for desired words. The dictionary includes a plurality of first letter index blocks indicative of the same letters being arranged at the same positions of the inner pages, respectively, and shaped into the same; a plurality of second letter index blocks including two groups being provided respectively on the front and back sides of each inner page such that their index blocks are arranged in alphabetical order, and ones of the second letter index blocks indicative of the same letters being arranged at the same positions of the inner pages, respectively, and shaped into the same, and the first letter index blocks and one of the second letter index blocks each indicative of the second letter of words recorded on each corresponding inner page, being printed with a depth of color enabling them to be distinguished from the other index blocks.

Abstract: The invention is a bankable apparatus or post card bank check for sending payments or contributions by mail without the use of any letter envelope. The post card bank check may be used for personal check payments or it may carry with it the dollar value of the instrument of such denominations as the issuing banks may determine and as the buyer may choose for the purpose of sending money from the sender to the recipient. A security strip is provided for use when the payor wishes to conceal the account number.

Abstract: A foldable card and method of making has multiple panels connected by fold lines which are placed laterally inward from free peripheral edges of end panels such that the card can be die cut in a folded configuration around an entire periphery of the card without entirely eliminating the fold lines. In a preferred method of making the cards, card stock is folded along the fold lines prior to cutting. The fold lines of the card are spaced at intervals to define different widths of adjoining panels so that when folded in a "Z" configuration a free peripheral edge of an end panel overlaps or underlaps a fold line. There may be multiple fold line interconnected panels between end panels. The fold lines may be oriented generally vertically or generally horizontally relative to the face of the card.
