  • Patent number: 4923320
Abstract: A disengagable coupling comprising a first part (1) affording a bore (3) and a second part (2) comprising a sleeve (5) and a drive flange (6). The sleeve (5) fits in the bore (3) and contains an insert (8) with collars (9,10) between which is defined a chamber (4) for the reception of oil under pressure to expand the sleeve into frictional engagement with the wall of the bore (3) for torque transmission. There may be a pressure release valve response to relative movement between the first and second coupling parts to release the coupling in case of overload.

  • Patent number: 4919561
Abstract: An ornamental ceramic fitting is mounted between two spaced, confronting, axially aligned, tubular members. The distance between the confronting ends of the tubular members is less than the corresponding axial length of the ceramic fitting. The ceramic fitting includes a threaded rod extending therethrough along the axis thereof and a well in each end of the fitting surrounding the threaded rod. The depth of the well in one end exceeds the difference between the axial length of the fitting and the corresponding axial distance between the confronting ends of the tubular members. The fitting is first placed on the end of one of the spaced tubular members and twisted to a position past the normal seated position. This allows proper alignment of the end of the other tubular member, whereupon the fitting is twisted in the opposite direction to properly complete the mounting operation.

  • Patent number: 4919247
Abstract: A fluidized fan coupling device is provided to substantially eliminate accompanying rotation followed engine start up. The device includes a sealed housing with a partition plate dividing the interior of the housing into a torque transfer chamber and an oil reservoir. The housing is rotatably mounted to a shaft which extends into the torque transfer chamber. A driving disk is mounted to the shaft and is disposed in the torque transfer chamber. An oil outflow regulating hole extends through the partition plate and is provided with a valve that responds to changes in temperature. The partition plate also has an oil circulating aperture to permit flow of oil from the torque transfer chamber to the oil reservoir only when the engine is stopped. An idle oil groove in the outer periphery of the torque transfer chamber communicates with an oil circulation passage which extends from the idle oil groove to the oil reservoir. A dam is provided in the idle oil groove to urge the oil through the oil circulation passage.

  • Patent number: 4909658
Abstract: A quick safety release for bull ropes and bare back riggings. One ring on the bull rope is held to the release device by a first ring latch which is pivoted to a release frame. A pivoted spring-loaded latch arm which in its normal position is perpendicular to the ring latch holds the ring latch in position preventing it from rotating about its pivot. A release line or cord is connected to the latch arm. When the bull rider pulls the release line the latch arm is pulled away from the ring latch permitting it to come unlatched from the ring of the bull rope.

  • Patent number: 4908967
Abstract: A heavy duty, chassis-mounted rock trencher for use with a conventional tractor for digging a trench, which obviates the use of outboard counterweights typically used to prevent overcentering problems. The trencher comprises an elongated digger boom selectively pivotally deployable between an inclined digging position and a roughly horizontal transport position. Additionally, the boom may be selectively contracted or extended to transfer weight overcenter and enhance stability. The boom comprises a rigid steel arm entrained by a continuous ground-engaging track of conventional digger elements journalled for rotation about cooperating sprockets upon a headshaft driven by a conventional hydraulic motor. The boom is operationally secured within a rigid, hollow, generally rectangular boom control assembly comprising a movable headshaft mounting housing and a cooperating boom mounting carriage. When the boom is contracted, the headshaft housing slides within the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4907783
Abstract: A chain link fence lower edging strip which comprises an extruded flat strip of plastic having a pair of centrally molded parallel groove that form precreased hinges allowing the extruded strip to be placed under a lower edge of a chain link fence and then folded upwardly into a U-shaped configuration. The outer top edges of the folded plastic strip are continuous molded fasteners that lockingly engage to a plurality of connectors passing through the openings in wire mesh of the chain link fence. Such a lower fence liner is useful in allowing grass to grow up to the wire mesh yet be readily trimmed by a twirling line trimmer without deleterious breakage of the twirling line.

  • Patent number: 4900184
Abstract: A resilient clip in three integrally joined sections: a central or web section centered on a z-axis, and two extensions from the web extending along x- and y-axes. Each section or portion may be described as a split sleeve and has a generally cylindrical opening therethrough, respectively centered on the same three axes. These openings are contoured and disposed to snugly receive a reinforcing bar or rod and a pair of corner legs of a generally rectangular stirrup, a piece of heavy wire bent into a rectangular shape and receiving reinforcing bars at its four corners, holding them in such positions to maintain the planned spacing between rebars. Each of the central openings through the three parts is joined to the outside by a lateral slit defined by a pair of lips that are forced apart by pushing the clip onto the steel member.

  • Patent number: 4896992
Abstract: The mounting frame arrangement is assembled from profile frame sections and connectors and is used for control panel assemblies, for component racks and holders, in household wiring, for equipment cabinets, and the like. On the four-sided (preferably square) hollow profile, one side has a longitudinal slit and at least the two adjoining sides each have openings opposite one another and distributed at regular intervals. The disconnectable connectors have two pairs of legs opposite one another and spaced apart by an adjustable distance, which are insertable in a form-locking manner into the interior of the profile. By being spread apart by spreader devices, the legs are made to contact opposed inside walls of the profile. At the same time, as locking means for preventing longitudinal displacement, detent protrusions come to engage the openings. A transverse groove for the same purpose is also possible on the outsides of the legs and on the inside of the profile.

  • Patent number: 4887928
Abstract: A device is provided for a screw connection between two pieces which can adjust the distance between the two pieces. The device comprises a first threaded piece and a second smooth piece with an annular groove close to its free end. A connector ring is screwed onto the threaded shank and engaged on the smooth piece. The connector ring has a groove of variable depth. An incompressible retaining ring is engaged in the grooves of the second piece and the connector ring. The device can be used to produce a single tension element.
