  • Patent number: 4502233
Abstract: In taking dial indicator readings as a part of the so-called "reverse indicator" shaft alignment procedure for a turbine-to-compressor drive, the high breakaway torque necessary to initiate rotation of the turbine shaft is supplied by connecting such shaft to power drive means through a power chain. In this manner the turbine shaft may be quickly rotated in small, precisely controllable increments without overshoot, thus saving valuable time otherwise wasted in performing this function manually. Tapered, hollow alignment brackets minimize "bracket sag".

  • Patent number: 4501574
Abstract: A transmission ratio variator establishes transmission between a drive shaft and a driven shaft between two orbital systems comprising gear wheels which move concentrically to their respective shafts and where the radii of each orbit are simultaneously variable. The gear wheels are mounted on shafts which are radially displaced in notches made in peripheric wings of sleeves joined to the control elements of the orbits. Each of the shafts of the gear wheels has a truncated thickening contained in a housing provided in each gear wheel. The shafts are axially displaced while blocked in and unblocked from the wheels depending on the direction of the displacement thereof which is controlled by a disc emerging from a ring which is displaced along the sleeve controlled by a double fork whose movement is controlled at will and is produced by conventional means.

  • Patent number: 4501575
Abstract: A two speed rear wheel hub transmission for BMX bicycles and the like that can be utilized as original equipment or as a conversion kit. High and low speed drive sprockets are mounted with intermediary overrunning clutches on the rear wheel hub of a BMX bicycle with each adapted to be concurrently chain driven by larger diameter high and low speed sprockets commonly mounted on the pedal drive shaft. Both the high and low speed drive systems are normally biased into driving engagement with the rear wheel hub but with the high speed drive system normally overriding the low speed system which free wheels during normal high speed bicycle operation. Downshifting is effected by a manually induced counter-rotational precessing of the rear wheel mounted high speed drive sprocket for selective driving disengagement thereof and automatic, delay free shifting to the low speed drive without effective interruption of drive pedal sprocket rotation.

  • Patent number: 4498889
Abstract: A belt drive arrangement is provided which employs a variator to interconnect a powered drive belt and a belt driven to operate either a transaxle or a transmission of a ground-engaging vehicle. The variator is secured to a pivotally mounted support member. The support member is joined to a speed control shaft which is rotatable in response to the actuation of either a foot pedal or a handle. Rotation of the speed control shaft repositions the variator with respect to idler pulleys associated with the driven belt so as to alter the vehicle's speed. Means are provided to rotate the speed control shaft by actuation of the pedal independently of the position of said handle.
