    Abstract: A layer piercing paper punch is disclosed, in which a plurality of cutting hole plates is provided on a base between the location of a cutting hole and an upper cutter bar for perforation. Each of the cutting hole plates has a sharp-pointed portion on the front end and a cutting hole near the middle part. The cutting hole plates lying parallel to the surface of the base and in an overlapping position are always maintained by a position-fixing member with cutting holes in alignment with the upper cutter bar and the lower cutting hole on the base thereby enabling the cutting hole plates to perform up and down movement without any movement on the sides during the perforation of a paper file.

    Abstract: An improved adjustable workpiece-supporting fence assembly for a compound miter saw, or other work-performing device, includes a fixed fence portion fixedly interconnected with the base of the device, with the fixed fence portion being disposed on one side of the saw blade, the workpiece cutter, or other such device for performing a working operation on a workpiece. A movable fence portion is selectively and laterally movably interconnected with the base on the opposite side of the work-performing blade or cutter and is laterally spaced from the fixed fence portion. The base or other portion of the device includes a fence-supporting portion fixedly disposed on the same opposite side of the blade or cutter, and both fixed and movable clamping arrangements are provided for releasably clamping the movable fence portion at any of a number of adjusted lateral positions therein, with the movable clamping arrangement being movable with the movable fence.

    Abstract: A slicing knife comprises a handle and a blade extending from one end of the handle where the blade is generally rectangular in shape and has opposed edges honed to a knife edge. Formed into the thickness dimension of the blade are a plurality of zones of reduced thickness which may be longitudinally-spaced apertures which are separated from one another by ribs having a generally rhombic cross-section. The blade tapers from a maximum thickness dimension in each direction in creating the knife edge and in approaching the zones of reduced thickness. The thickness of the ribs exceeds the blade thickness such that when it is pressed, for example, through a block of cheese, the cheese only contacts the blade along the line segments defined by the corners of the rhombic ribs.

    Abstract: In a folding knife or hand tool having a handle and a blade pivotally connected to the handle, a spring loaded crossbolt 1 is fitted to the blade tang. One end of crossbolt 1 protrudes through an arcuate slot in the handle, crossbolt slot 32. A locking collar 19 on crossbolt 1 engages locking counterbores A 34 and B 36 located on the blade side of the opposite ends of crossbolt slot 32. When finger pressure is applied to the end of crossbolt 1, locking collar 19 is forced to disengage locking counterbore A 34 and retreat to a relieved area on the blade, collar relief 52. This permits the blade to be extended by forward finger pressure on crossbolt 1. When the blade is fully extended, spring pressure forces locking collar 19 into the opposite locking counterbore B 36, thus locking the blade. Reversing the sequence will close and lock the blade.

    Abstract: A rotating cropping and sampling shear for rapidly running rolling stock, particularly for wire and/or bar steel is disclosed. The shear has a blade support rotatable in a shear housing and is constructed in a hollow-cylindrical manner. The shear has a ring blade whose cutting edge rotates at the hollow-cylindrical wall of the blade support, a blade drum which is axially spaced from the blade support and is rotatable in the same rotational plane and includes a ring blade arranged at the outer circumference whose cutting edge runs along the outer wall of the drum. The rolling stock is guided in the space between the blade support and the blade drum. The blade support or the blade drum can be displaced axially relative to one another and one inside the other by a displacing device.

    Abstract: An indexing coupling for a drill includes a hollow inner race, a hollow outer race, and a sleeve member. The hollow inner race and hollow outer race are affixed to one another by a plurality of ball members which are positioned by a plurality of detents in the hollow inner race. The balls also extend into holes in the hollow outer race. When the balls are positioned within the holes in the hollow outer race and within the detents in the hollow inner race by the sleeve member, the hollow inner race and the hollow outer race are rigidly connected one with respect to the other. When the sleeve member is moved the ball members become disengaged from the hollow inner race thus allowing indexing of the outer race with respect to the hollow inner race. This indexing of the hollow outer race with respect to the hollow inner race allows selective rotatable indexing of the drill housing with respect to the nose piece.

    Abstract: A conveying system for an automatic food slicing machine is disclosed. The conveying system has a floating upper conveyor positioned above a lower conveyor. The conveyors cooperatively feed the food item to be sliced an incremental length into the slicing knives during the feed cycle and retain the remainder of the food item during the cut-off cycle. An indexing mechanism, adjustable to provide different feed length increments and timed to the rotational cycle of the cut-off knife, drives the conveyors. The indexing mechanism only drives the conveyors during the feed cycle and the conveyors remain static during the cut-off cycle. The food item to be sliced is captively held between the upper and lower conveyors during both the feed cycle and the cut-off cycle. Small diameter rollers at the exit end of the conveyors are utilized and are positioned in close proximity to the travel path of the cut-off knife providing retentive capability throughout the feed length range.

The distance of the base body from the web is chosen such that only the cutting blades but not the base body penetrate the web. Furthermore, the cutting blades are so fashioned and arranged that upon their penetration of the web to the maximal depth of penetration, an uncut portion remains between two cutting blades which upon exit of the subsequent cutting blades is severed by their leading cutting edge.
