At least one population or fraction of organic and/or mineral particles, has a size such that: 3×(?{square root over (SMf)})3?v, preferably 5×(?{square root over (SMf)})3?v, where SMf corresponds to the mean cross-section of the fibers or filaments that form the layers, and v represents the mean individual volume of the organic or mineral particles.

Abstract: Polyester materials, methods for making polyesters materials, and uses of the polyester materials in binder materials and articles of manufacture are disclosed. In one embodiment, a process is provided for preparing a polyester solution, including mixing monomers of at least one organic acid containing at least three carboxylic groups and at least one multi-hydroxyl alcohol containing at least three hydroxyl groups to form a reaction mixture, heating the reaction mixture to a first temperature, polymerizing the monomers at the first temperature until reaching an acid value from about 200 to about 400 mg KOH/g, adjusting the temperature to a second temperature less than the first temperature, and forming the polyester solution. The polyester materials may be mixed with cross-linking materials to form binder materials. The binder material may then be used to form articles of manufacture.

Abstract: A power transmission belt (10) includes: a belt body (11) including a part (14) which is in contact with a flat pulley and which is made of a rubber composition containing an ethylene-?-olefin elastomer with an ethylene content of less than or equal to 60% by mass as raw rubber. The rubber composition forming the contact part (14) with the flat pulley has a storage modulus of 20-60 MPa at 25° C. and a storage modulus of 12 MPa or more at 100° C., short fibers are not blended into the rubber composition, and the grain direction of the rubber composition corresponds to a belt lengthwise direction.
Abstract: A three dimensional woven preform, a fiber reinforced composite incorporating the preform, and methods of making thereof are disclosed. The woven preform includes one or more layers of a warp steered fabric. A portion of the warp steered fabric is compressed into a mold to form an upstanding leg. The preform includes the upstanding leg and a joggle in a body portion. The body portion and upstanding leg are integrally woven so there is continuous fiber across the preform. A portion of the warp steered fabric includes stretch broken carbon fibers in the warp direction, and another portion includes conventional carbon fibers. The warp steered fabric can be woven on a loom equipped with a differential take-up mechanism. The warp steered fabric can be a single or multilayer fabric. The preform or the composite can be a portion of an aircraft window frame.
Abstract: Transparent conductive films comprising silver nanowires dispersed in polyvinyl alcohol or gelatin can be prepared by coating from aqueous solvent using common aqueous solvent coating techniques. These films have good transparency, conductivity, and stability. Coating on a flexible support allows the manufacture of flexible conductive materials.
Abstract: A ballistic-resistant laminate assembly having a pair of films with an array of stacked pairs of first and second of unidirectionally-oriented bundles of high strength filaments therebetween, with the stacked filament bundles being arranged substantially interlinear with adjacent unidirectionally-oriented adhesions between the pair of films. The adhesions form continuous tubular sleeves between the pair of films with the stacked bundles of high strength filaments being substantially free floating yet contained therein. Optionally, the high strength filaments are coated or soaked in a liquid-to-solid phase change material or PCM.
Abstract: Method for fabricating a reinforcing coating for a part made of composite material. Pre-impregnated reinforcing fibers are used in the form of slivers and said slivers are laid on the part in two layers of longitudinal slivers by being placed thereon. This fabrication makes provision for using an angular orientation for the slivers of each layer respectively of 0° and of some other angle relative to said determined direction of the solid body for covering using an interlaced pattern type that gives layer crossing lines parallel to a longitudinal axis of the solid body for covering, which pattern type is selected to form interlacing patterns that limit the number of layer crossing lines along the longitudinal axis of the solid body for covering to a single line.

Abstract: A steel filament adapted for the reinforcement of elastomer or for thermoplastic products has a carbon content ranging up to 0.20 per cent by weight. The steel filament is provided with a coating promoting the adhesion with elastomer or thermoplastic products. The steel filament is drawn until a final diameter of less than 0.60 mm and a final tensile strength of more than 1200 MPa. Intermediate heat treatments are avoided so that the carbon footprint of the steel filament is substantially reduced.

Abstract: An aqueous binder composition is provided that includes a carbohydrate and a crosslinking agent. In exemplary embodiments, the carbohydrate-based binder composition may also include a catalyst, a coupling agent, a process aid, a crosslinking density enhancer, an extender, a moisture resistant agent, a dedusting oil, a colorant, a corrosion inhibitor, a surfactant, a pH adjuster, and combinations thereof. The carbohydrate may be natural in origin and derived from renewable resources. Additionally, the carbohydrate polymer may have a dextrose equivalent (DE) number from 2 to 20. In at least one exemplary embodiment, the carbohydrate is a water-soluble polysaccharide such as dextrin or maltodextrin and the crosslinking agent is citric acid. Advantageously, the carbohydrates have a low viscosity and cure at moderate temperatures. The environmentally friendly, formaldehyde-free binder may be used in the formation of insulation materials and non-woven chopped strand mats.

Abstract: A new orthopedic prayer mat proposed, whereas the new orthopedic prayer mat has a multiple layered structure. The top layer is made from microfiber which is antimicrobial, anti-molding, water-resistant, anti-dust and heat-resistant. The bottom layer is an anti-slip layer to prevent the user from physical injury in any situation while using the mat, and a soft polyurethane layer and an anti-fatigue layer or a hard polyurethane layer are arranged between the top microfiber layer and the bottom anti-slip layer in order to absorb pressure pressure and providing support, and the soft and hard polyurethane layer are combined at an angle to adjust the ratio of the weight-absorption and bearing to form the orthopedic prayer mat. Further the angle between the layers is tailored for users according to user's weight, height, body structure type and healthy conditions.
Abstract: A self-decontaminating fabric prepared by a method, wherein the method prepares a coating solution by combining a first solution comprises a photocatalyst dissolved in an alcohol, and a second solution comprises a metal alkoxide dissolved in an organic solvent, applies the coating solution to the fabric, and dries the fabric.
