  • Patent number: 5372557
Abstract: An exerciser for simultaneously strengthening the finger, hand, wrist and forearm, comprising a head section connected to a handle section. The head section has enclosed within its rigid perimeter edge a solid flexible material which, when the exerciser is in use, generates air resistance to twisting and turning movements of the wrist and the forearm. The handle section comprises two moving components positioned in facing opposition to each other on opposites sides of a shaft which is connected to the head section. The moving components are connected to each other and to the shaft by springs which cause the moving components to be spaced apart from the shaft. In use, the handle provides gripping resistance to the fingers and hand of the user. An elastic sleeve surrounds the handle assembly to prevent pinching of the user's hand.

Abstract: An applicator 10 for crease setting composition comprises an applicator body 12 having at one end thereof a nozzle 14 for applying a crease setting composition to a crease line and at the other end thereof an inlet 26 for compressed air for forcing the composition out of the nozzle 14. Guidance projections 18, 42 are mounted beneath the body so as to guide the applicator nozzle 14 and cause it to deliver composition accurately into the crease. Guidance projections 18, 42 is operatively connected to a valve 2 in the compressed air circuit such that when the guidance projections 18, 42 contacts the garment to be treated pressure is applied to the composition and when the guidance projections are removed from the garment to be creased pressure is removed from the composition.

  • Patent number: 4764047
Abstract: A brush for home use such as washing cars and patios. The brush includes a body having a plurality of dependent bristles and defining a first compartment for a receiving soap and a second compartment for receiving rinse water. The body also includes an elongate tube partially defining each of the compartments. The first compartment has an outlet for providing soapy water to the bristles while the second compartment has an outlet for providing rinse water. A spool valve is slidable back and forth in the tube with the valve having a tubular wall defining an axial bore open to the conduit and an opening extending through the wall for communicating water to either of the compartments. Seals are carried by the spool valves flanking the opening to provide watertight seals between the valve and the tube. The brush also includes a thumb switch for reciprocating the valve along a linear path among a soap position, a rinse position, and an off position where water is supplied to neither of the compartments.

  • Patent number: 4738557
Abstract: A multi-purpose writing device comprising plural writing elements, at least one of which is an automatic pencil that can be extended, can be extended to and retracted from and between the writing position and the housed position alternately by rotating a cylindrical cam. The cylindrical cam is sectioned diagonally with respect to the axis at its lower end to form a cam surface and is also provided with a translation cam inside thereof to provide a two-stage cam mechanism. Further, a flat portion is made at the top and the bottom of the cam surface provided at the lower end of the cylinder member. A slider which connects with each writing element is stepped to provide slide projections while slide against the cam surfaces. The axial movement of the cylindrical cam is transmitted to the automatic pencil element by the engagement of the translation cam with the slide projections to cause the lead of the pencil to be discharged.

  • Patent number: 4717275
Abstract: A writing instrument having a casing with an axially-extending bore seating a cantilevered arm of a pocket clip which protrudes through the casing bore when the instrument is in an "off" position. The pocket clip has guide tabs which fit into guide channels in the instrument's casing. The guide channels, with spring fingers which bias the pocket clip in the direction of the bore, are capable of releasably locking the clip in plural positions. In the "off" position the pocket clip arm protrudes through the casing aperture but the writing members housed within the casing are retracted. Moving the pocket clip to a "write" position causes a writing member to project from either the front or back of the housing and the pocket clip arm to be retracted into the casing.
