  • Patent number: 10764741
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to a method in a first mobility management node (108a) for handling updated subscriber data associated with a UE (101). The UE (101) is currently unreachable by the first mobility management node (108a). The first mobility management node (108a) receives, from a subscriber database (128), updated subscriber data associated with the UE (101). At least part of the updated subscriber data is modified. The first mobility management node (108a) determines that transmission of the updated subscriber data to a gateway node (110) should be postponed until the UE (101) has become reachable.

  • Patent number: 10736074
Abstract: Techniques are provided for positioning of a mobile device in a wireless network using directional positioning reference signals (PRS), also referred to as PRS beamforming. In an example method, a plurality of directional PRSs are generated for at least one cell for a base station, such that each of the plurality of directional PRSs comprises at least one signal characteristic and a direction of transmission, either or both of which may be distinct or unique. The plurality of directional PRSs is transmitted within the at least one cell, such that each of the plurality of directional PRSs is transmitted in the direction of transmission. A mobile device may acquire and measure at least one of the directional PRSs which may be identified using the associated signal characteristic. The measurement may be used to assist position methods such as OTDOA and ECID and to mitigate multipath.

  • Patent number: 10667207
Abstract: In embodiments of access point assisted roaming, a mobile device, such as a mobile phone, tablet computer, or other portable device is implemented for wireless connection with access points, such as Wi-Fi access points. An access point controller can receive a request for a neighbor report from the mobile device, and also obtain a travel direction of the mobile device. The access point controller is implemented to determine access points that are each configured for a wireless connection with a communication system of the mobile device, where a wireless connection with an access point is based in part on a detected signal strength of an access point. The access point controller can then generate the neighbor report that lists one or more of the access points in order of connection likelihood and based on the travel direction of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10542514
Abstract: A mobile communication network comprises a first cell (200) and a second cell (210, 220, 230, 240) arranged in a coverage area of the first cell (200). A node (100) of the mobile communication network obtains positioning data of a UE (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16). The node (100) correlates the positioning data to a coverage area of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240). Depending on the correlation of the positioning data and the coverage area of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240), the node (100) selects between an active state and an inactive state of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240).
