  • Patent number: 9706446
Abstract: A method performs a Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) Packet Switched (PS) to Circuit Switched (CS) handover of an emergency call that is routed over an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network. The call is transferred from a first region served by a first Mobility Management Entity (MME) to a second region served by a second MME. The method includes sending a first handover request from the first MME to the second MME to transfer the call. The first handover request includes an Emergency Session Transfer Number for SRVCC (E-STN-SR) identifying an Emergency Access Transfer Function (EATF) in the first region. A second handover request for handover to a CS access is sent to a target Mobile Switching Centre, MSC, and includes the E-STN-SR. The call is handed over to the CS access using the E-STN-SR to route the call via the EATF in the first region.

  • Patent number: 9674891
Abstract: Architecture that allows a user to control the way a connection is made to a destination. A destination can be tagged with an attribute that defines how the connection to that destination should be routed. For example, a phone address book allows the user to not only enter the usual call recipient information such as name and telephone number, but also to add an attribute in the form of a network identifier associated with a network that should be used when connecting to the destination. Where multiple networks are associated with the destination, the phone subsystem, recognizing that the destination now has multiple network IDs for connecting the call, can prompt the user to select the desired network pathway. The user can also tag the destination with a protocol that should be employed. Thus, not only will the phone be connected according to the network, but according to the protocol.

  • Patent number: 9674698
Abstract: An approach is provided for generating and/or sharing of at least one key upon registering communication identifiers associated with one or more devices for an anonymous communication session. The approach involves causing, at least in part, a generation of at least one key associated with at least one anonymous communication session. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, a transmission of the at least one key to one or more devices. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, a registration of one or more actual communication identifiers associated with the one or more devices to the at least one anonymous communication session based, at least in part, on receiving the at least one key from the one or more devices, wherein the registration does not expose the one or more actual communication identifiers to the one or more devices of the at least one anonymous communication session.

  • Patent number: 9668102
Abstract: A method for providing an alert notification to a user in a degraded location includes obtaining incoming call data indicating the mobile terminal is unable to establish a first communication link with a communication terminal for receiving an incoming call using voice over long term evolution. The method also includes providing the alert notification to a user associated with the mobile terminal based on the obtained incoming call data. The alert notification informs the user that the incoming call directed toward the mobile terminal is pending. The method also includes receiving the incoming call from the communication terminal after the mobile terminal moves away from the degraded location and establishes the first communication link with the communication terminal.

  • Patent number: 9635487
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for provisioning wireless devices for operation in one or more networks. In one embodiment, a provisioning service may provide access client (e.g., Subscriber Identity Module) data to a secure element in the wireless user device. The device may be preloaded with a provisioning SIM profile. The device may use the provisioning profile to roam onto a carrier, and communicate with a provisioning service, which may present the user with a list of available wireless carriers, such as carriers that service the user's current geographic location. In response to a user selection, the provisioning service may load a SIM profile associated with the selected carrier onto the secure element. The loaded SIM profile can be used to obtain wireless service from the selected carrier. The user may add multiple SIM profiles, and/or may delete SIM profiles.

  • Patent number: 9628955
Abstract: A wireless communication network comprising a donor base station (BS) and a repeater chain wherein a location controller stores a repeater chain BS identifier (ID) associated with a repeater chain location. The donor BS broadcasts a BS ID and serves a repeater chain. The repeater chain broadcasts the donor BS ID and the repeater chain BS ID. The communication server system receives a location request for a User Equipment (UE) and establishes data connectivity between the UE and the location controller over the donor BS and the repeater chain. The UE transfers the repeater chain BS ID to the location controller, and the PDE translates the repeater chain BS ID to the repeater chain location and transfers the repeater chain location.

  • Patent number: 9622096
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for subscribing to an RLF report. An integration reference point manager configures a subscription condition for an RLF report for an integration reference point agent. The integration reference point manager obtains an RLF report that is sent by the integration reference point agent and satisfies the subscription condition. The embodiments of the present invention can avoid the case in the prior art that a base station sends an RLF report obtained from a UE, to an IRPManager through an IRPAgent in a best-effort mode, thereby decreasing the load of information transferred between the IRPManager and the IRPAgent.

  • Patent number: 9615311
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the communication of cellular network information between a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a mobile station are disclosed. In one illustrative example, the mobile station receives a generic container message from the WLAN. The generic container message includes cellular network information associated with one or more available cellular networks previously received by the WLAN. The generic container message is not technology or standard-specific, as it may contain cellular network information from a variety of different cellular networks (e.g. 3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, etc.). The mobile station decodes the generic container message to identify and store the cellular network information in its memory. Preferably, the cellular network information includes information for identifying the cellular networks so that the mobile station may appropriately select one of the cellular networks for communication.
