    Abstract: An aerated wetland system used for wastewater treatment is disclosed. The system includes a main frame with an entrance and an output opening. The wastewater is entered into the system with maximum velocity via the entrance and via a racetrack. The racetrack comprises an agitated flow pattern with a plurality of baffles along the longitudinal axis of the racetrack to deflect the wastewater and create turbulent flow into the wastewater. The racetrack further includes at least four intersecting sections. The at least two intersecting sections include washed soils and an aeration system and other two intersecting sections include washed soils and a plurality of wetland plants respectively, thereby subjecting the influent wastewater to anaerobic and aerobic conditions respectively, along the racetrack to effectively purify and treat volatile compounds in the influent wastewater. The outlet opening directs out effluent wastewater from the aerated wetland system via the effluent device.

    Abstract: A system to treat effluent in a septic tank includes filter sections having kerfs. A strainer removes solid debris from the filter for removal without allowing the solid debris to pass. An aerator includes an eight to twelve inch diameter pipe 4 to 6 feet tall matching tank invert height. The aerator has bottom inlet holes, each with an elbow on the outside with a vertical standpipe taking effluent from the clear zone, sending it through the aerator. Air inlet piping is attached to a “T” shaped air diffuser producing bubbles traveling upward through plastic media. Aerator height is field adjusted to approximately 2 inches below static water level. Holes in the upper sidewalls just below the top let air bubbles out sideways. At its top, the aerator has a slotted, sliding, anti-turbulation collar adjusted to be one to two inches above the static water level.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides a process based on hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) treatment for co-processing of high-water-content wastewater sludge and other lignocellulosic biomass for co-production of biogas and bio-crude oil. The mixture of waste activated sludge and lignocellulosic biomass such as birchwood sawdust/cornstalk/MSW was converted under HTL conditions in presence of KOH as the homogeneous catalyst. The operating conditions including reaction temperature, reaction time and solids concentration were optimized based on the response surface methodology for the maximum bio-crude oil production. The highest bio-crude oil yield of around 34 wt % was obtained by co-feeding waste activated sludge with lignocellulosic biomass at an optimum temperature of 310° C., reaction time of 10 min, and solids concentration of 10 wt %. The two by-products from this process (bio-char and water-soluble products) can be used to produce energy as well.
