  • Patent number: 4680828
Abstract: Hardware for converting a door panel into a sliding door includes a pair of two-wheel trolley assemblies for supporting a door panel, a one piece track for attachment above a door opening, and a guide assembly for the bottom of the door panel for stabilizing the door when it is in the closed position. The track has running surfaces at 90.degree. to each other on which the wheels run. For use with doors for refrigerated rooms, one of the running surfaces has elevated portions for raising one wheel of each trolley. When on the elevated portions, the door panel is moved outwards from the door opening, thereby minimizing damage by the sliding panel to the door seals.

  • Patent number: 4679285
Abstract: A lubricated hinge comprises a pair of hinge plates and a lubricant filled hinge pin fitting through barrel sections of the hinge plates so as to pivotally connect same. The hinge pin comprises a hollow cylindrical body hvaing at one end a radially expansible portion terminating with a stop shoulder and at another end a preformed head and lubricant entrance. The pin body between its ends has lubricant delivery holes for delivering lubricant to between the pin body and the barrel sections of two hinge plates. The pin body is insertable into the barrel sections with the preformed head abutting one side of the hinge and the stop shoulder aligned with an opposite side of the hinge. A shank of a mandrel having an extruding head is insertable through the pin body and is adapted to then be pulled so as to radially expand the expansion portion of the pin body with the extruding head to abut the other side of the hinge and until the extruding head is stopped by the stop shoulder in the pin body.

  • Patent number: 4679662
Abstract: The lightweight caster assembly, when used on aircraft food and drink-dispensing push carts and other aircraft furniture, in place of conventional caster assemblies, reduces the overall weight of the aircraft furniture, thus resulting in a considerable fuel saving. Moreover, the caster assembly is inexpensive to make and install and is durable. It includes a caster wheel of lightweight metal or plastic and a generally inverted U-shaped support bracket or yoke. The wheel has transverse cut-out portions as well as transverse passageways through which metal or plastic reinforcing rods are inserted. The wheel axle passageway is lined with removable lightweight metal or plastic reinforcing and aligning sleeves. A lightweight metallic braking plate with a notched outer periphery may be releasably secured to one side of the wheel, against which a braking mechanism connected to a push cart can releasably bear to brake and stop the wheel from turning and to lock the wheel in the stationary position.

  • Patent number: 4675938
Abstract: A retraction device for automatically closing a panel, such as a door or window, after the panel has been opened. The retraction device includes a drum, a coiled spring power assembly for driving the drum, a centrifugal brake for controlling the power assembly and the drum to eliminate slamming of the panel during closing, and a gear train transmission assembly to connect the power assembly and the centrifugal brake. In one embodiment, the drum is a spool which carries a cable to connect the panel to the retraction device. In another embodiment, the drum has a rim which frictionally engages a frame supporting the panel. The centrifugal brake is adjustable to take into account a wide range of panel sizes and frictional conditions. This adjustment can be made through an aperture in the device's housing for quick and easy on-site installation. A one-way clutch mechanism is coupled between the power assembly and the brake to actuate the brake only when the panel is being retracted.

  • Patent number: 4674147
Abstract: This invention relates to a bow and spring hinge assembly for eyeglasses, in which each bow can be opened beyond a stop-defined position so that the bow can resiliently bear on the head of the wearer. The novel assembly can be used also with slender and thin bows and provides for a transverse bracing for eliminating a transverse backlash between relatively slidable parts. For this reason the assembly is provided in the slider and in the bow end portion with recesses, which face each other and each of which is provided on opposite sides with inwardly facing track grooves, and I-section members are provided, each of which is in sliding contact with the track grooves of both said recesses so that said I-section members hold said bow end portion and said slider together against a transverse separation.

  • Patent number: 4674149
Abstract: A window hinge for mounting a window sash for pivotal movement between open and closed positions including a track mountable to window frame and a sash arm mountable to a window sash. The sash arm is supported for movement relative to the track by a plurality of links, with pivotal connections to the sash arm and to either the track or a shoe movable along the track. A cam surface on the sash arm coacts with a cam member on the track to assure pull-in of the sash arm when the window hinge moves to window-closed position. The cam surface has an apex which is offset relative to the center line of the sash arm and a pivot connection of a link to the sash arm is similarly offset whereby an inside edge of the sash arm is caused to align with an inside edge of the track when the window hinge is in window-closed position.
