Abstract: An envelope blank forming machine for forming generally rectangular booklet envelope blanks and generally diagonal envelope blanks on the same machine includes a pair of removable turnbars, adjustable pull rolls and an adjustable cutoff device. Preselected adjustment of these components provides a generally rectangular blank or a generally diagonally shaped blank. Retractable trim devices are provided in cutting relation with the blank when diagonal blanks are being formed. Seal flap cutters and first and second flap cutters are provided to form the booklet seal flap and bottom flap on the booklet envelope blank. These cutters are removed and replaced with seal flap corner cutters, bottom flap corner cutters and diagonal trim cutters when generally diagonal envelope blanks are being formed.

Abstract: A grinder assembly includes a grinder support device positioned within a pipe section and has a support shaft extending along the longitudinal axis of the pipe. A grinder is supported from the support shaft by means of a connector secured to the body portion of the grinder. The grinding wheel is positioned in abutting relation with the edge of the pipe and the support shaft being rotatably mounted on the grinder support permits the grinding wheel to rotate around the periphery of the shaft. There is an adjustment device for the support shaft where the angularity of the support shaft, the grinder, the connector and the grinder wheel face can be adjusted angularly relative to the longitudinal axis of the pipe section to compensate for an edge portion of a pipe that is cut at an angle other than perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pipe.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for accurately grinding the outer circumferential face of the spigot of a bell, and spigot type member, such as a concrete pipe or manhole riser on one side of the spigot, while simultaneously cutting a sealing ring groove in that face on the opposite side of the spigot provides for advancing a support base and rotatable main arm assembly toward the end face of the member while automatically centering the support base on the outer circumferential face, then clamping in the centered position. A motor driven grinding assembly, on one side of the main arm assembly, and a motor driven cutter assembly, on the opposite side thereof, are then moved inwardly into contact with the spigot face, and the main arm assembly rotated in an annular path around the support base and member to grind a true truncated conical face on the spigot while the cutter forms an accurate sealing groove in that face for an O ring, or other seal.
Abstract: An optical apparatus for determining the level of the contents in a container using a reflected light beam that sweeps across two adjacent photocells while the container is being filled. The light beam is reflected from the surface of the contents in the container so that as the level of the contents varies the reflected light beam correspondingly travels from one photocell to the other. The photocells are electrically connected in opposed relationship and the differential output therefrom is arranged to trigger a relay when the level of the contents reaches a predetermined height. The container is rotated about its vertical axis during filling so that the light reflected from the gradually raising upper surface of the contents is reflected from a rotating annulus of said surface thereby providing more effective detection of the level of a particulate or segmented product in the container.
