  • Patent number: 11873717
Abstract: A polymer mesh for skin control in hard rock mining conditions is provided. The polymer mesh is manufactured using a knitted or woven design that further includes one or more pairs of solid cut-resistant bands. The bands are positioned in pairs, each band in a pair having a width of at least about 2.5? and being generally parallel with the other band. The bands are spaced from one another at a distance of between about 1.5? and about 4? to create a reinforced aperture between the bands. One or more reinforcement bolts are installed within the aperture with the bands on opposing sides of each bolt buffering the edges of the steel plates associated with the bolts to prevent the plates from tearing the polymer mesh.

  • Patent number: 11867148
Abstract: Delivery of a high volume of floating systems for wind turbines can make floating wind economic. The delivery can involve the standard design of sections, such as “tubes” or “cans,” comprising a rolled plate and ring stiffeners. The delivery can then involve the transportation of the sections in block to an assembly site that is closer to the planned installation point. The sections are used to manufacture floating vessels, such as semi-submersibles, buoyant towers, and/or spars, at the assembly site, which can include a barge with cranes. For semi-submersibles, the delivery can then involve the installation of the Tower, the nacelle, and blades using the barge cranes. Alternatively, for spars or buoyant towers, the nacelle and blades can be installed at an off-shore location using a platform, such as a standard jack-up vessel or a crane jacket.

  • Patent number: 11866942
Abstract: A method of installing a trough or trench for containing a cryogenic spill, includes the step of constructing multiple precast concrete sections at a first location, each section having a bottom wall and spaced apart side walls connected to and extending up from the bottom wall. Each section has end portions that enable connection to another concrete section. The method includes (at the first location), preparing multiple panels of polymeric concrete material by filling one or more molds with a slurry or liquid polymeric concrete material and after time allowing the material to cure and harden. At the first location, one or more of the panels is adhered to the bottom wall and side walls of each concrete section using an adhesive. After adhering of the panels to the concrete sections, the concrete sections are transported from the first location to a second location that is remote from the first location.

  • Patent number: 11859362
Abstract: An erosion control apparatus includes a flexible, container and a cord. The container includes a container upper side, a container lower side opposite the container upper side, a container trailing end, a container leading end opposite the container trailing end, and a container mouth toward the container leading end. The container mouth provides an opening to a container interior. The cord is attached between the container mouth and an attachment point toward the container trailing end. The cord draws the container mouth toward the container trailing end due to a length of the cord between the container mouth and the attachment point being shorter than a length of the container between the container mouth and the attachment point. The cord further draws the container mouth toward a closed position as sediment enters the container mouth, fills the container interior, and urges the container leading end away from the attachment point.

  • Patent number: 11859486
Abstract: A system and method use a sensor embedded in flexible tape to monitor for corrosion of a structure, such as a conveyance line in a well. The system comprises the structure, a spool, a flexible tape, a sensor, a spool driver, and a processor. The structure includes a window adjacent to an element under test. The flexible tape is retained by the spool. The sensor is embedded in the tape, with the sensor being configured to detect a corrosion of the element and to generate corresponding sensor data. The spool driver is coupled to the spool and advances the tape from the spool to position the sensor adjacent to the window, thereby to position the sensor adjacent to the element to detect the corrosion. The processor is configured by code stored therein to receive the sensor data and to generate and output an alert of the detected corrosion.

  • Patent number: 11851836
Abstract: A pile guide construct for floating docks. An elongated and vertical sleeve is positioned over a pile that is driven into the earth. A guide is positioned over the elongated and vertically positioned sleeve. A limiting cap is positioned an upper end of the sleeve that acts as a stop to prevent the guide from exceeding a vertical height that is greater than the height of the pile. Forming the sleeve and guide of thermoplastic, such as high density polyethylene, provides a sleeve and guide that are both durable and corrosion resistant, while also providing a construct having a low coefficient of friction that facilitates vertical movement of the guide relative to the sleeve and the pile. A collar mounted to the sleeve and spaced apart from the limiting cap may also be provided to provide a lower limit of travel of the dock relative to the pile.

  • Patent number: 11840815
Abstract: A circular dam for generating, accumulating, storing, and releasing electrical energy comprises a wall defining a water reservoir built in an abundant body of water such as a sea or an ocean. Water inside the water reservoir is kept at a water level below the water level outside the wall so as to create a water level difference sufficient to operate one or more water turbines positioned across the wall of the water reservoir. Excess electrical energy from other renewable sources of electricity such as wind, solar power, or supplied by a local power grid is used to operate water turbines as water pumps to lower the water level inside the reservoir during times of peak supply of electricity. Water is drained from outside the wall back into the water reservoir to generate electrical energy by flowing over a plurality of water turbines. Generated electricity supplements electrical power for the local power grid during times of high demand.

  • Patent number: 11828033
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to a completely new pile splicing system called Grouted Sleeve Coupler Splice (GSCS) for Precast Concrete Piles (PCPs) as an innovative alternative splicing method for connecting driven PCP segments. The provided splicing method is applicable for preplanned situations and provides a durable, labor-friendly, rapid, and economical foundation construction method. In this system, to improve the structural performance, the entire sleeve coupler and a portion of the dowels are partially debonded in short lengths from surrounding concrete. This connection system is novel in conjunction with PCPs and for connecting separate precast pile segments. The provided system offers a completely unique and new method of connecting and splicing PCP segments and other prismatic prefabricated piles.
