Patent number: 4262685Abstract: There is provided a beauty case having a pair of case halves hinged together along a common edge for closing and opening. Each case half includes a metal frame edge with molded plastic shell or cover mounted thereon. An organizing tray is received within the case and disconnectably attached to the inner surface of the end walls for removal and hanging onto the front sidewall of the lower case half. A mirror is provided on the inside top surface of the upper case half which is adjustable to a different angular position and has a finger actuated latch for securing the mirror in an out of the way position against the inside cover wall. The mirror is mounted in a one-piece molded plastic frame having a flexible thin-wall section which serves as a hinge between a part of the frame secured to the inside case cover and the frame part carrying the mirror.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1979Date of Patent: April 21, 1981Assignee: Samsonite CorporationInventors: David E. Patent number: 4254784Abstract: An improved hair unit assembly and method is disclosed wherein the user's natural hair is employed to attach the hair unit in place. In practice, one or more elongated, apertured tubes are placed adjacent the user's natural hair, and strands thereof are pulled into the tubes; an elongated, frictional locking member or adhesive is then inserted within each tube to secure the tubes in place. An appropriate hair unit can then be secured to the tubes by any one of a number of techniques. Reinforcing tube segments are also used to interconnect and bridge spaced hair-receiving tube sections to thus rigidify the overall assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1979Date of Patent: March 10, 1981Assignee: Apollo Hair Systems, Inc.Inventor: Charles W. Patent number: 4207894Abstract: A pediatric suction receptacle has a closed plastic collector with an upper wall integrally joined to a downward extending wall and an inward sloping wall terminating in a spigot. Two plastic tubes permanently connected to the upper wall have proximal ends extending into the chamber. Distal ends of the tubes have integrally formed two-way tubing adaptors. One tube is connected to a wall suction fitting, and the other tube is connected to a patient for receiving fluids to be calibrated.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1975Date of Patent: June 17, 1980Inventor: Victoria A. Patent number: 4206772Abstract: An apparatus and method for curling hair which includes a hair roller featuring an elongated resilient open mesh strip of inherently spring coil design with gripping combs attached to its extreme end portions. The hair roller is provided with resilient means, e.g. three spring wires, for urging the roller into its coiled positon (FIG. 3). A setting lotion packet (FIGS. 3 & 4) including a container surrounded by a foam diffusing strip can be coiled with a strand of hair in the hair roller and the container ruptured to dispense its contents to the curled hair strand. Numerical scales are included along the edges of the roller as a guide in its positioning on the hair strand. Methods of application of the hair roller are sequentially illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1976Date of Patent: June 10, 1980Inventor: Jacqueline F. Koepp

Patent number: 4155370Abstract: A wig for covering up a bald area of the head or portion having thin hair and an improved wig anchoring technique. The anchoring member to be positioned on an inner surface of a wig body includes a curved reversible member supporting a number of pectinate projections having free ends movable toward or away from the reversible members as a result of opening or closing movement of the member so that, in use, closure of the reversible member will cause hair of the user to be gripped between the projections and the reversible member whereby to retain the wig on the user's head. The wig comprising a body having hair on an outer surface thereof and a plurality of the thus constructed anchoring members will not be easily dislodged from the user's head even though the user may perform strenuous exercise.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1977Date of Patent: May 22, 1979Assignee: Aderans Company, Ltd.Inventor: Nobuo Nemoto

Patent number: 4148330Abstract: A motor-curler unit for the automatic application of curlers to hair to be treated includes a motor and a curler made of a suitable material, for example a pressed plastic material. The curler includes two coaxial elements which are mated to one another and are adapted for engagement with a corresponding part of the motor in such a manner that a first curler element can be fixed with respect to the motor casing, while a second curler element torsionally joins the relative motor shaft such that by operating the motor, rotation of the second element, rotating respective to the first element, winds the hair around the first element. Thereafter, when the motor is stopped and the curler released, the curler will rest in the hair with the hair lock still wound around it.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1978Date of Patent: April 10, 1979Inventor: Vittorio Gnaga

Patent number: RE30305Abstract: A cap or head cover disposed for positioning on the head and scalp of the user is equipped with a plurality of holes, said holes being identified by a specific color surrounding each hole. The arrangement of the holes and colors is keyed to a series of selected programs. Desired hair color effects or styles are attained by selectively pulling strands of hair through the colored holes in accordance with the selected program by means of crocheting needles and applying suitable coloring or bleaching compounds to the strands so pulled out.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1978Date of Patent: June 17, 1980Inventor: Lorenzo Caruso
