  • Patent number: 4739890
Abstract: A closure for containers provided with one or more closure projections adapted to cooperate with means on the container for securing the closure in sealing position over the open mouth of the container. The closure of the invention can be used with containers designed for child resistant packaging or with containers designed for conventional closures. The closure includes a top wall and a depending skirt portion. One or more locking projections are formed on the inner wall surface of the skirt portion. The locking projection has an upper surface facing the top wall of the closure on which is formed a lug which extends parallel to the axis of the closure so that the locking projection has a generally inverted T-shaped configuration including a pair of oppositely extending arms which extend normal to the lug. The extending arms define support surfaces which cooperate with the securing means of the container to prevent cocking or tilting of the closure when in the locked and sealed position on the container.

  • Patent number: 4641759
Abstract: A twist-type closure for bottles. The closure includes an inner member with a disk-like portion and a depending peripheral lip, which is adapted on the interior to match the particular closure provision of the bottle. Projecting upward from the disk portion is a neck terminating in a closed flange having, in one embodiment, a slightly greater diameter than the neck. An outer member generally surrounds, and is rotatable with respect to, the inner member. This outer member also has a disk-like portion and a depending peripheral lip. The outer member has a central opening to permit receiving the flange therethrough to assemble the closure. Between the disk portions of the inner and outer members is a biasing member to normally maintain these portions separated but allow movement toward each other when pressure is applied to the outer member.

  • Patent number: 4595116
Abstract: An opening arrangement on packing containers is provided with thermoplastic layers, which in general are present on both sides of packing laminate and extend past a cut edge and are sealed in a liquid-tight manner to each other. This can be achieved simplest if the hole-punching of the carrier layer of the material is done prior to the application of the thermoplastic layers.

  • Patent number: 4579238
Abstract: A child-resistent, moisture-tight safety closure having an end wall with an annular depending skirt, the skirt having a plurality of locking lugs disposed on the inside thereof. The locking lugs cooperate with retaining notches adjacent to the open mouth of an associated container to releasably retain the closure on the container. A sealing plug integral with the end wall of the closure and concentric with the annular skirt effects a moisture-tight seal with the inner wall of the container. A plurality of resilient members are integral with the interior of the closure at the junction of the top wall and the skirt, the resilient members extending downwardly and inwardly so as to engage the end surface of the container opening. The compression of the resilient members serves to bias the locking lugs on the closure into locking relationship with the retaining notches on the container with a force sufficient to ensure the child-resistant characteristics of the closure.

  • Patent number: 4561561
Abstract: A container having an EOE with a tab affixed by welding is provided. In the EOE the top wall is made of surface treated steel sheet and the tab is made of stainless steel sheet or tin free steel sheet and the ultrasonic welding is used to fix the tab to the top wall. Through the invention monometallized containers can be supplied easily and cheaply.

  • Patent number: 4432465
Abstract: A low heat transfer fitting to close an opening in a fire-rated barrier includes a cover plate, a pressure plate, a radially expandible annular gripping ring between the cover plate and the pressure plate, and adjustable fasteners between the two plates to urge them toward each other to expand the ring. A body of intumescent material is supported in the opening by the pressure plate with a low heat transfer member. Two embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4284213
Abstract: An improved closure and nozzle system for containers for air-curable materials such as cartridges for sealant and caulking compounds is disclosed. A container such as a caulking cartridge is provided with a threaded neck for attachment of a correspondingly threaded nozzle having a tapered tip portion designed to be cut off to provide a desired orifice size. A cap having a snap-fit ring is designed to mate with a corresponding snap-fit ring on the nozzle short of the tip and also having a threaded external portion designed to mate with the container neck so that the cartridge can be resealed after opening.

  • Patent number: 4241840
Abstract: A safety closure is disclosed for use with a container having a threaded neck. The closure includes an inner cap with a plurality of teeth on its top wall and internal threads for cooperatively engaging with the threaded neck of the container. The closure also includes a sheet metal overcap which overlies and is loosely mounted on the inner cap. The overcap has a plurality of louvers in its top wall which are adapted for cooperative engagement with the teeth of the inner cap. Each of the louvers of the overcap includes a flange portion which projects downwardly at an angle from the top wall of the overcap to a terminal edge defined by a slit in the top wall. An integral supporting arch portion connects each side of the flange portion to the top wall between the terminal edge and the junction of the flange portion and the top wall.

  • Patent number: 4227629
Abstract: A device for closing and opening a container has a tubular member having an axis, an inner hollow and two open end portions one of which is detachably connectable with a container so as to surround its opening, and a closing member movable between a first position in which it closes the other end portion of the tubular member so as to prevent access to the container's opening, and a second position in which said closing member is removed from the other end portion of the tubular member so as to allow the access to the container's opening. The tubular member may be fixed to the container in the region of its opening by a plurality of fixing means.

  • Patent number: 4127213
Abstract: There is disclosed an easy-opening convenience end for generally cylindrical containers in which an end closure has a push tab or gate panel formed out of the thickness of the end closure and displaced beneath the plane of the end closure with a folded protective edge circumscribing the outer periphery of the gate panel, except for a limited portion which defines a hinge section between the gate panel and end closure. The folded edge tapers or otherwise merges into the thickness of the end closure adjacent to the hinge section, and a line of weakening or separation is formed between the fold and gate panel by a metal shearing operation so as to permit opening of the end closure by depression of the tab inwardly about its hinge section.Modified forms of ends incorporate relatively broad reinforcing areas in the closure surrounding opposite sides of the gate panel to facilitate intial separation of the gate panel away from the end.
