  • Patent number: 10238528
Abstract: A fluid collection system for collecting fluids leaked from a surgical incision is provided. The fluid collection system broadly includes a baseplate having an adhesive backing that couples the baseplate to a patient's skin and includes a wafer having a centrally positioned opening. The opening receives a first end of a surgical drain tube. A wafer connector is disposed around the opening and detachably couples to a fluid remover connector on a fluid remover The leaked fluid remover defines a septum space and a septum is housed within the septum space. The septum has an orifice that receives a second end of the surgical drain tube. The septum is capable of moving about radially, axially and/or pivotally to alleviate side load tension on the septum caused by displacement of the surgical drain tube.

  • Patent number: 10232096
Abstract: A device for selectively filtering a substance suctioned from a surgical site includes a valve that may be positioned in a bypass mode and a filtration mode. The valve is placed within a body that includes an inlet and an outlet. In the bypass mode, a first inlet of the valve is adapted to be aligned with the body inlet. The first inlet guides the substance through a bypass passageway to the body outlet. In the bypass mode, a bowl and a filter of the body are sectioned off from a flow path of the filtration device such that the bowl and the filter can be removed without interrupting an application of suction to a surgical site by the filtration device. In a filtration mode, a second inlet of the valve is adapted to be aligned with the body inlet to direct the substance into the filter.

  • Patent number: 10143485
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for debriding a tissue site are described. The system includes a manifold and a cover adapted to form a sealed space over the tissue site for providing negative pressure. The system also includes a debridement tool positioned between the manifold and the tissue site. The debridement tool having a tissue-facing surface and a plurality of holes separated from each other by walls. The walls have transverse surfaces extending between the tissue-facing surface and an opposite surface that form cutting edges. The holes have a perforation shape factor that allows the holes to collapse from a relaxed position to a contracted position in response to the application and removal of negative pressure from the sealed space. The cutting edges debride the tissue site in response to movement between the relaxed position and the contracted position.
