    Abstract: Methods and compositions for cell-specific expression of genes are provided. The invention utilizes the endothelin-1 promoter and promoter elements to direct expression of heterologous genes in endothelial cells. The promoters and elements are useful for directing cell-specific expression of therapies for vascular and cardiovascular diseases.
