Abstract: A method for determining an optimum writing power of a compact disc drive includes representing the relationship between a target read-back signal parameter and writing power as a polynomial function, which is stored in a database. The optimum writing power is obtained after at least one iteration of a writing test procedure. The test procedure includes utilizing a constant writing power.
