  • Patent number: 6672484
Abstract: An integrated heat exchanger and liquid dispensing unit 10 for flash cooling beer includes a main body 12 provided with an internal flow path 14 having an inlet 16, an outlet 18, and a void 20 in fluid communication therebetween. The void 20 is formed from four cylindrical chambers 22a-22d that are interlinked so as to be in mutual fluid communication with each other. Chambers 22 are formed in a thermal insulating block 26 held within the main body 12. Conduits 30c-30d are disposed within chambers 22a-22d respectively. Each conduit has an inlet 32 and an outlet 34. The outlet 34 is connected directly to a dispensing tap 36. The heat transfer fluid 45 passes through the fluid flow path 14 and thus flows through and about the conduits 30. Beer enters through inlet 32, passes through the conduit 30 and is dispensed through tap 36. The beer is cooled by virtue of a heat exchange with the fluid 45 flowing through the chambers 22.

  • Patent number: 6669057
Abstract: Liquid dispensing module and methods for dispensing a heated liquid onto a substrate. The dispensing module includes a dispenser body receiving liquid from a heated liquid distribution manifold and an actuator having a housing with an air piston movable in an air cavity and a solenoid valve for pressurizing the air cavity. Movement of the air piston controls a flow-regulating mechanism for selectively dispensing liquid from the dispenser body. A thermally insulating shield may be provided for reducing heat transfer from the manifold and/or dispenser body to the actuator so that the solenoid valve can be mounted directly to the housing and the effective volume of the air cavity can be reduced. The cycle time of the liquid dispensing module may be specified by selecting an initial volume of the air cavity and an effective valve flow coefficient for the actuator that characterizes the air flow to the air cavity.

  • Patent number: 6666355
Abstract: A device for dispensing fluids from a sealed off-storage container includes a housing placed on the container that receives a pressure cylinder for insertion in the container. The cylinder has a pressure chamber defined at the upper end by a piston guided in the cylinder and at the lower end by a valve. The valve acts upon the container and is closed when there is an excess pressure and opens when there is a negative pressure in the chamber. The piston has a pump channel linked with the chamber, and the cylinder has openings upstream of the chamber for drawing off residual air present in the container. A passage between an outer wall of the piston and an inner wall of the cylinder upstream of the openings is closed by a sealing washer. Residual air is drawn off via the openings and the passage, whereby the sealing washer loses its sealing effect on the piston.

  • Patent number: 6666432
Abstract: In an idle speed control valve, an adjusting screw is inserted into a hole of a valve body and passes through a center of a coil provided in the valve body. The adjusting screw has a ring-shaped flexible projection on its outer periphery between a head portion and a threaded portion thereof to prevent a sealing material from entering. An outer diameter of the projection is equal to or slightly larger than an inner diameter of the hole. Therefore, when the adjusting screw is inserted into the hole, a peak of the projection contacts an inner wall of the hole. The projection may be integrally molded with the adjusting screw. A ring-shaped projection may be provided on a thin wall portion of the adjusting screw.
