Abstract: A polyphase motor having a stator with an armature coil for each phase energized from a D. C. source by a semiconductor circuit. In addition to magnet means on the rotor which respond to the polarity caused by the D. C. current flowing across the armature coils, there is a rotating control band on the rotor with a written position indicator thereon. Disposed on the stator at a location where the written signals on the position indicator can be read are position sensing reading means. These reading means are coupled to the semiconductor stator circuit which in turn controls the flow of current from the D. C. source across the armature coils in accordance with the signals read on the control band.
