Abstract: An interactive defect reporting system is designed to handle enroute equipment problems and repairs in a paperless process that enables on-board personnel to report equipment problems using a phone. After calling the system, the on-board personnel describes the, problem in their own words in as much detail as necessary. The computerized reporting system assigns a unique Trouble Ticket number to the report and all subsequent repairs. Mechanics listen to the Trouble Tickets or have transcribed copies faxed to their facilities. Trouble Tickets are also immediately available to all downline maintenance facilities so that mechanics can prepared for problems on a train well in advance of its arrival. Once a problem is fixed, the mechanics called in the repair and describe in detail what was done to fix the problem. On-board personnel can listen to the repairs or request a fax copy of the Trouble Ticket.

Abstract: The present invention includes a system and method of electronically executing transactions with a preprogrammed main computer having data and image storage and retrieval equipment. A plurality of electronic images of works of art which are for sale are created by at least one listing dealer and stored on the storage equipment associated with the main computer. Data is input about each stored image and input data is associated with each corresponding stored image. A plurality of preprogrammed intelligent terminals each having data storage and retrieval equipment, at least one display screen and at least one input device, located at at least one listing dealer location and at at least one buying dealer location communicate with the main computer. Search criteria are input through the intelligent terminals for selecting at least one of the stored electronic images for review.

Abstract: An inventory management system automatically monitors inventory amounts, provides information concerning inventory, and decides if an order for replacement inventory should be placed. The system includes a storage for inventory, an indicator for monitoring and reporting the level of current inventory, and a controller for receiving information from different inventory suppliers and for integrating such information with information on current inventory amounts and estimated future use to decide if an order for replacing inventory should be made. An order is placed automatically to a supplier and the progress for the delivery of replacement inventory is automatically monitored. A method using this system for managing inventory includes the steps of automatic gathering information about the current inventory and deciding whether and when replacement inventory should be ordered.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing and distributing a currency is disclosed. First, a user accesses a web site and downloads a form. The user completes and returns the form with a currency name, an initial amount of currency and other parameters which characterize the currency. Next, the system server checks to ensure the requested currency name is unique. If the name is unique, the system server and user's smart card employ a cryptographic key management system to establish the currency as a leaf in a currency tree on the user's smart card. A new root value is computed for the currency tree and saved in memory on the user's smart card. The user may then distribute the currency to other holders of smart cards from the same smart card issuer using the same cryptographic key management system employed between the system server and the user's smart card.

Abstract: The method and apparatus automatedly generates various reports for a psychotherapy provider. These reports include Treatment Plans, progress reports, scheduling reports and billing reports. The progress reports include a Progress Note which incorporates various selected data into a report for the insurance company. As much of the data is selected from menus, the resulting report can maintain much patient privacy while being satisfactory to the insurance company. More private information can be stored separately in Expanded Text. A Treatment Plan is generated using the various selected data with respect to subsets of emotional factors, intellectual factors, physical factors, social factors, and spiritual factors. These subsets may be chosen randomly or with some periodic selection.

Abstract: A system and method for allowing a plurality of investors to manage investments in a mutual fund or a directly-owned portfolio of investments. The assets and liabilities of the mutual fund are adjusted in response to an action (buy, sell, trade) by one of the fund's members or participating investors in the system. A determination is then made of that member's and the other fund members' pro rata ownership interest, based on the economic result of that action. This process is iterated, as necessary, in response to actions taken by any members of the mutual fund. In this way, the mutual fund is dynamically managed. For a portfolio directly-owned by an investor participating in the system, the portfolio would be dynamically managed by having it reflect the dynamically changing individual, and aggregated, actions of other participating members, or others.

Abstract: A plurality of types of settlement conditions exist for transactions with electronic money. An electronic transaction system capable of being applied to a plurality of types of settlement conditions using a single automatic teller machine is provided. In order to achieve this, this system has the following configuration. Namely, in this electronic transaction system for carrying out transaction settlements using electronic money stored on a customer card while using an automatic teller machine, customer identification information and an electronic money amount are stored as balance information for each customer account established at a financial institution, with the customer card being such that stored information can be updated based on pre-decided transaction conditions. The automatic teller machine then houses customer cards corresponding to a plurality of transaction conditions and a plurality of ATM cards, and a plurality of control software is prepared.

Abstract: A passenger management system having a boarding processing system with a plurality of tag readers and speakers connected to an automatic broadcasting unit each located in a plurality of areas into which a premises of an airport is divided. If there is found a remarked boarding card with which the check-in has been completed at a checking counter but boarding has not been confirmed, the tag readers are successively actuated from a gate counter and an area among said plurality of areas in which said remarked boarding card is present is determined based on the signal received by said tag readers. In such a way, remarked boarding cards, namely not-boarded passengers are managed for each area.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of managing an inventory of vehicles and parts associated with the vehicles using a central computer system and at least one remote computer system operatively connected to the central computer by a communications link to exchange data therebetween.

Abstract: A user interactive display computer process and program, provided by a distributer of computer components to a seller of computer systems, for configuring computer systems and networks including the computer components. The process involves prompting system purchasers to make a sequence of interactive data entries, each of said entries relative to the data processing needs of the purchaser using one of said computer systems and networks and then allocating the computer components to the networks and systems based upon said user entries. The quantities of the computer components thereby allocated to computer systems sold by said seller to said purchasers during a selected time period are tracked and stored. Then, a determination is made as to whether the quantities of components thereby allocated during the time period exceed a selected level and if the level is exceeded, fees due from said seller to said distributer for said process are foregone.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for producing an advertisement that is personalized to a particular user for a current transaction and is presented to such user at the point of sale or transaction terminal. The transaction terminal produces current transaction data that includes customer identity, and goods/services being purchased and their prices. the current transaction data is sent to an advertisement server via a network such as the Internet. The advertisement server uses a user database, a goods database and an advertisement database to locate an existing advertisement or create a new advertisement that is personalized to the particular user. The personalized advertisement is sent to the transaction terminal for presentation to the user by displaying or printing on a sales receipt.

Abstract: A method is provided for centrally tracking transactions in an electronic billing system. The system includes multiple different billing entities, multiple different financial institute entities and multiple different user entities. Each of the multiple different billing entities is associated with a respective portion of the multiple different user entities and each of the multiple different financial institute entities is associated with a respective portion of the multiple different user entities. A message is received from any of the multiple different financial institute entities indicating a request from any of the multiple different user entities associated with the applicable financial institute entity to view billing information. The receipt of the request to view the billing information is logged in a database as first event information.

Abstract: A financial transaction system. The present invention includes a method for performing a financial transaction, wherein a cardholder makes a purchase from a merchant using credit established at a financial institution. The method begins when the merchant transmits a merchant offer including merchant information about the purchase to the cardholder. The cardholder transmits the merchant information along with cardholder information to the financial institution. The financial institution then transmits payment for the purchase to a merchant account and sends a payment notification to the merchant indicating that payment for the purchase has been made and that the merchant offer has been accepted.

Abstract: A method for calculating a mortgage which provides application of mortgage payments to principle first and then interest in the amortization schedule of repayment of a conventional loan is disclosed. The disclosure provides a method for calculating mortgage payments on a conventional mortgage loan by applying such payments first to reduction of principle while accumulating accrued interest. Payments are applied towards accrued interest after the principle amount of the loan is reduced.

Abstract: A method of financing the acquisition of an automobile, the method comprising the steps of: (a) from time to time establishing a list of a plurality of automobiles; and (b) selling at least one financial product to a person selected from the group consisting of a potential owner of an automobile on the list and a third party who identifies the potential owner as a beneficiary of the at least one financial product, the at least one financial product having a maturity date later than a date of sale thereof and the financial product having as a condition of sale the requirement for any proceeds thereof on maturity to be used to purchase an automobile then on the list. Preferably, the method further comprises the step of: (c) at the maturity date selling an automobile then on the list to the potential owner, the seller being selected from the group consisting of an automobile manufacturer, a dealer of an automobile manufacturer and an agent of an automobile manufacturer.
