Abstract: A telescoping table with a base and at least two slides and a support table, which can be displaced linearly on it in a telescoping manner, and with drive devices assigned to these components, is to be operated in such a way that, even at small degrees of extension, at least the support table is fully or almost fully extended on the slide which guides it, and, to the extent possible, the second slide is also extended relatively far forward on the first slide, the required drive devices being installed in readily accessible and easy-to-maintain locations. For this purpose, it is proposed that the base be equipped with two drive devices, the first of which is connected only to the first slide, whereas the second operates tension cables, tension belts, tension bands, tension chains, and/or lengths of chain which operate a second slide or a second slide plus additional slides as well as the support table.

Abstract: There is disclosed a fireplace combustion air duct including a main duct of heavy sheet metal or other refractory material suitable for the high temperature environment of a woodburning fireplace, which main duct is open at least partly along the bottom to receive air from the ash clean-out opening or other opening in the floor of a woodburning fireplace and also open at the forward end. Sliding into the forward end of the main duct is an adjustable duct open at least at the forward top portion thereof and configured to fit in telescoping fashion within the main duct. The adjustable duct is provided on the front end with a deflector plate for directing air from the duct to the rear of the fireplace so that logs or other combustible material on or directly above the duct will be directly exposed to a strong flow of air from the combustion air duct.

Abstract: An improved mechanism for converting the reciprocal motion of a drive member to pivotal motion of one or more levers includes a tooth member-receiving slot pair operatively connecting the drive member to the levers. The tooth member extends perpendicular to the axis of reciprocation of the drive member and the slot receives the tooth member in driving engagement therewith. Either the tooth member or the slot has a convex cam surface formed thereon and the other member of the pair has a flat cam-engaging surface. Rolling contact is thereby provided between the drive member and the levers when the drive member is actuated for reciprocal movement.

Abstract: A furnace peep sight utilizes a pair of glass plates removeably mounted within passageways of a truncated conical body journaled for rotation and partly mounted within the wall of a furnace. A passageway, useful for sighting purposes, passes through both of the glass plates extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the body so as to position, in one angular location of the body, one of the glasses inwardly towards the interior of the furnace and the other glass plate located outwardly from the exterior surface of the wall. Further rotation of the body permits the glass plates to be aligned transverse to a sight hole otherwise coaxially aligned the openings in the body.

Abstract: A heat-insulated rotatable handle extends through an opening in the cover side wall of a barbecue grill to interconnect with a generally L-shaped lever arm located inside the cover. By the handle alone, the cover may be raised or lowered, and, at the same time, rotation of the L-shaped lever arm permits selectively locating an end portion of the arm within any one of a plurality of slots in the grill fire bed wall to achieve a corresponding opening relation.

Abstract: A transmission arrangement for a vehicle having a normal longitudinal direction of movement includes a housing assembly, a transmission having an output shaft, the transmission being mounted within the housing assembly, a transfer gear train driven by the output shaft and mounted within the housing assembly, and a bevel gear and cross shaft assembly mounted within the housing assembly and driven by the transfer gear train, the bevel gear and cross shaft assembly being located longitudinally between the transmission and the transfer gear train.
