  • Patent number: 11496755
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry for video decoding. The processing circuitry decodes, from a coded video bitstream, coding information for a current picture. The coding information indicates that a geometric merge mode is enabled for a coding level higher than a picture level of the current picture and a maximum number of merge candidates satisfies a condition. The processing circuitry determines, based on a picture level parameter signaled for the current picture in the coded video bitstream, a maximum number of geometric merge mode merge candidates based on the picture level parameter and the maximum number of merge candidates. The maximum number of geometric merge mode merge candidates can be (i) 0 or (ii) one of 2 to the maximum number of merge candidates. The picture level parameter indicates the maximum number of geometric merge mode merge candidates.

  • Patent number: 11470308
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for reducing the complexity of using bi-directional optical flow (BIO) in video coding. In some embodiments, bit-width reduction steps are introduced in the BIO motion refinement process to reduce the maximum bit-width used for BIO calculations. In some embodiments, simplified interpolation filters are used to generate predicted samples in an extended region around a current coding unit. In some embodiments, different interpolation filters are used for vertical versus horizontal interpolation. In some embodiments, BIO is disabled for coding units with small heights and/or for coding units that are predicted using a sub-block level inter prediction technique, such as advanced temporal motion vector prediction (ATMVP) or affine prediction.

  • Patent number: 11405689
Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing recording of a blacked out media content item. A system receives a request from a first user device associated with a profile to record a media content item scheduled to broadcast on a second user device (different from the first user device) associated with the profile, at a second location. The system determines that the media content item is subject to a blackout during a blackout period within a blackout region. The system determines that the first user device and the second user device are associated with the same profile and that the first user device is at a first location outside the blackout region. The system then accesses the media content item for recording on the second user device during the blackout period. The system further transmits the recorded media content item to the first user device after expiry of the blackout period.

  • Patent number: 11386581
Abstract: A system for registering one or more cameras and/or creating an accurate three-dimensional (3D) model of a world space environment including back projecting at least one image from at least one of a plurality of camera views to the 3D model based on a set of existing camera parameters. The back projected image is added as a texture for the 3D model. This texture is automatically compared to one or more images from other camera views using a color space comparison of images to determine a set of differences or errors. The camera parameters and the 3D model are automatically adjusted to minimized the differences or errors. Over time, the parameters and the 3D model converge on a state that can be used to track moving objects, insert virtual graphics and/or perform other functions.
