  • Patent number: 8782253
Abstract: A server device in a long term evolution (LTE) network may store, in a memory, context information, associated with a prior communication session between the LTE network and a user device, where the context information permits a communication session to be established within a time period, the time period being less than another time period to initially establish the communication session or to establish the communication session without the context information. The server device may further receive a registration request associated with the user device; determine whether the memory stores the context information; perform, within the time period, an abbreviated registration operation to establish the communication session with the user device, using the context information from the memory, when the memory stores the content information; and perform, within the other time period, a registration operation to establish the communication session when the memory does not store the context information.

  • Patent number: 8782275
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided to manage media stream transmissions at a content server. A content server detects that a user on a device such as a mobile device has stopped playing a live media stream. The content server maintains information associating the user with the media stream and time information. When the content server detects that a user wishes to resume playing a media stream, the user can continue viewing the media stream from where stoppage occurred. In many instances, the content server stores many hours of live media stream data and allows a user to select a particular starting point.

  • Patent number: 8782251
Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to a mechanism for seamlessly changing a network mode of a network device that is connected to multiple nodes. In aspects, agents reside on the nodes. A master agent communicates with the other agents and receives the capabilities of the nodes on which they execute. The master agent creates a data structure that includes the settings needed to connect using the new network mode. The master agent distributes this data structure to the other agents and each agent stores settings associated with the current network mode in case a rollback is needed. The master agent then instructs the other agents to begin communicating using the new network mode and the network device is reconfigured. If the master agent does not receive success acknowledgments from all of the other agents, the master agent initiates a rollback procedure.

  • Patent number: 8782269
Abstract: A mobile device includes a mobile network module to present media content using a public network and a home network module to present media content from a home network. The mobile device uses the mobile network module to receive a media streaming session via a broadband cellular connection and detects a local wireless connection to a device in a home network. The mobile device uses the home network module to initiate, via the local wireless connection, a home media session with the device in the home network and matches content of the home media session with content of the media streaming session. The mobile device presents, to a user and using the home network module, the matched content of the home media session and disables the media streaming session.

  • Patent number: 8782202
Abstract: At an upload time, each of multiple printers connecting with a network identifies storage or non-storage of any unsent monitor information file, which has not yet been sent to a management server. In the case of storage of any unsent monitor information file, the printer collects from the other printers unsent monitor information files, which are stored in the other printers and have not yet been sent to the management server, and uploads the collected monitor information files and the unsent monitor information file stored in the self printer to the management server. This arrangement effectively reduces the access frequency from the respective printers to the management server for transmission of monitor information files from the printers to the management server.

  • Patent number: 8775624
Abstract: Optimal assignment of clients to client-sets, resources to resource-sets, and client-sets to resource-sets in a server farm allows for periodic re-balancing of the load as client usership and concurrent-user activity fluctuate. Unique combinations of clients are generated as candidate client-sets, and historical load measurements for clients in each candidate client-set are summed. Summed loads for the candidate client-sets are compared against available resources of resource-sets. An objective function is employed to identify optimal assignment of clients to client-sets, resources to resource-sets, and client-sets to resource-sets.

  • Patent number: 8775886
Abstract: The self-healing system comprises a self-healing processor and an error mitigation system. The self-healing processor includes a code block associated with the operation of a portion of digital logic. The self-healing processor also includes a dynamic signature analysis circuit. The processor executes the code block. The dynamic signature analysis circuit creates a dynamic signature representing the operation of the portion of digital logic associated with the code block. The error mitigation system receives the dynamic signature from the dynamic signature analysis circuit. The error mitigation system compares the dynamic signature to a static signature to determine if the signatures match. If the signatures do not match, then the digital logic associated with the code block has an error. The error mitigation system retries execution of the code block. The error mitigation system stores log information describing the above events.

  • Patent number: 8775502
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided to route data within a network of content with specific service constraints to mobile devices. A mobile network management component receives an identifier (ID) of a base station that serves a mobile device that originates a request for data, and relays the ID to a network platform that administers content. A mapping that associates one or more base stations with a deployed content node and the received ID are utilized to identify a content node to serve the request for data via the base station. The received request for data is directed to the identified content node. A service constraint configuration can be allocated for exchange of payload data between the mobile device and the network platform. For a request to consume data and a request to supply data, identified content node delivers data and receives data, respectively, in accordance with the service constraint allocation.

  • Patent number: 8671131
Abstract: System enabling the cancellation of previously-sent e-mail comprising a data transmission network, wherein a plurality of users are connected to the network, each user being able as a sender to forward an e-mail over the network to at least another user as a recipient connected to the network, and wherein a message transfer agent MTA is associated with each user for sending the e-mail when the user acts as a sender and delivering the e-mail when the user acts as a recipient. Each MTA includes a cancel mailbox for transmitting a cancellation message to the recipient(s) when the user associated with the MTA is a sender wanting to cancel a previously-sent e-mail or for managing the cancellation of e-mails in the mailbox of the user associated with the MTA upon receiving the cancellation message from the sender when this user is a recipient.

  • Patent number: 8631086
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may be used to manage message queues in a parallel computing environment to prevent message queue deadlock. A direct memory access controller of a compute node may determine when a messaging queue is full. In response, the DMA may generate an interrupt. An interrupt handler may stop the DMA and swap all descriptors from the full messaging queue into a larger queue (or enlarge the original queue). The interrupt handler then restarts the DMA. Alternatively, the interrupt handler stops the DMA, allocates a memory block to hold queue data, and then moves descriptors from the full messaging queue into the allocated memory block. The interrupt handler then restarts the DMA. During a normal messaging advance cycle, a messaging manager attempts to inject the descriptors in the memory block into other messaging queues until the descriptors have all been processed.

  • Patent number: 8612523
Abstract: Botnet attacks may be detected by collecting samples of spam messages, forming clusters of related spam messages, and identifying the source or sources of the related spam messages. The related spam messages may be identified as those generated using the same template. For example, spam messages generated using the same image template, text template, or both may be deemed as related. To find related spam messages, images of spam messages may be extracted and compressed using a lossy compression algorithm. The compressed images may then be compared to one another to identify those generated using the same image template. The lossy compression algorithm may involve dividing an image into several blocks and then computing a value for each block for comparison.
