  • Patent number: 4701082
Abstract: In a multipurpose machining unit with pneumatic spindle feed, driving is performed, starting from a motor unit (12), directly or via a flexible shaft (9). An interchangeable gear set (4) makes it possible to select the number of revolutions of the tool in accordance with its purpose. In this connection, for simultaneous use, an arbitrary number of gears (5, 6) is provided. The gears (5, 6) of the gear set (4) can be plugged together in coaxial series. The driven side of the motor unit (11) can be plugged together with the machining unit directly or by way of at least one gear (5, 6) or by way of a connecting coupling (8) for a flexible shaft (9) into a rotational connection. With the use of such a machining unit, individual spindles can likewise be operated economically.

  • Patent number: 4692073
Abstract: Handle adapter and chuck apparatus for a power bit includes a quick release chuck having a spindle with a longitudinally extending bore in the spindle adapted to receive the shank of the power bit. A radially extending bore extends through the spindle and communicates with the bore. A ball is disposed in the bore and contacts a portion of the shank of the power bit disposed in the bore. A spring biased sleeve is disposed about the spindle and includes a tapered bore which bears against the ball to bias the ball against the shank of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4641414
Abstract: In a pallet (31) for the seating of interchangeable clamping jaws (21) lockable to base jaws (4) of a chuck (1) the clamping jaws are inserted, for their retention in radially oriented, open-faced recesses (32) of the pallet (13). In the pallet, on both sides of each recess (32) one or more clamping bolts (33) are provided, each of which is arranged so as to be movable within limits and to which a pressure can be applied. By means of the bolts, the interchangeable clamping jaws (21) can be locked in a defined position in the pallet (31) and unlocked for their removal. This makes it possible to insert the interchangeable clamping jaws (21) without problems into the recesses (32) of the pallet (31) and also to remove them from the pallet without having to guide the interchangeable clamping jaws (21) laterally and without their jamming between guide surfaces. Rather, centering and fixing of the interchangeable clamping jaws (21) takes place automatically, when they are in a predetermined end position.

  • Patent number: 4626142
Abstract: A drilling machine operable by a single operator to tap into a pipeline includes an elongated boring bar to which a number of different tools such as drills and hole saws may be removably attached. The boring bar is positioned within a body tube allowing rotation of the boring bar relative to the body tube. The body tube is positioned within an internally threaded feed tube such that as the feed tube is rotated, the boring bar is advanced. Manual or automatic driving equipment is secured to the boring bar to rotate the tool. A clutch mechanically couples the rotation of the driving equipment to the feed tube to move the tool into the pipeline at a controlled rate. The clutch includes a feed nut threadably secured to the feed tube. Adjacent the feed nut is a clutch member slideably secured to the feed tube. A biasing member such as a wave spring is position between the feed nut and the clutch member.

  • Patent number: 4564996
Abstract: An apparatus for working on the leads of electronic or electric components which is adapted to handle the components in a loose condition by way of a slide or in a bandoliered form. Bandoliered components have a regular spacing which is generally much smaller than the motion of tools in the direction of supply of the components, with the size of the motion being geared to the spacing between loosely supplied components. A tool group is moved backwards and forwards along the line of supply of the components, while the tools in the group are moved towards and away from each other. A limiting structure, which may be put into and out of operation, has the effect of overriding that is to say decreasing or completely stopping, the backward and forward motion of the tool group geared to the spacing of loose components.

  • Patent number: 4450608
Abstract: An apparatus for producing tempered plate spare parts, planar shaped products, shear platus, blades cut from band material, and particularly ampule files, comprises a band hobbing and feeding unit, in certain cases a mechanical forming unit, particularly a serrating and/or sharpening unit, a heating and cooling unit and a cutting mechanism. The apparatus is equipped with a cutting-cooling mechanism arranged on a cross slide that can alternately be displaced crosswise to the transfer trace of the band material and it is provided with pairs of cutting tools arranged in two parallel or approximately parallel--expediently flat--clamp plates that can be pressed to one another.

  • Patent number: 4449870
Abstract: An adjustable T-slot cover for covering T-slots in such as a table of a machine tool and consisting of two intermeshing elongated section members. Each section member has in the crosssection a vertically extending web extending along the side wall of T-slots and which web has on the upper end a projection for engaging with chamfered upper edge of the side wall and on the lower portion a guide for resiliently abutting with the side wall. One section member has sidewisely extending first and second arms, and the other section member has a third arm extending between the first and second arms. Intermeshing indentations are formed between the second and third arms.

  • Patent number: 4424977
Abstract: Wedge chuck having grooves in the sides of each jaw and in the adjacent sides of its way in the chuck body, of which the grooves in all jaws form a given angle with a common plane normal to the chuck axis in which all jaws move, and the grooves in each way lie in a plane normal to the common plane and to the median plane of the associated way in which the chuck axis lies, and a jaw actuator guided in the chuck body for movement in the direction of the chuck axis and carrying sets of follower keys of which the keys of each set are received with a sliding fit in the grooves in a jaw and in the grooves in the associated way, whereby on back and forth movement of the actuator the grooves and follower keys cooperate to move the jaws to and from the chuck axis.
