  • Patent number: 10389762
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method, system and apparatus for causing a communication client to join a media-over-packet communication session. The method comprises receiving from a communication client an indication indicative of a desire of the communication client to establish a communication session, the communication client being registered in association with a user account. The method further comprises determining if there exists at least one active communication session established with at least one other communication client registered in association with the user account. Responsive to determining that there does exist at least one active communication session, the method further comprises causing the communication client to join at least one of the at least one active communication session.

  • Patent number: 10380182
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining by a computing device a set of videos that a user may watch. For each video, a coefficient value is determined for each of one or more coefficient factors. At least one of the coefficient factors has a value that would be coincident with the user watching the video. A video coefficient for each video is calculated based on the coefficient values of its coefficient factors, and the videos are ranked based on their video coefficients. The rankings are then provided for presentation to the user.

  • Patent number: 10367703
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for monitoring usage of network traffic rules applied by devices on a computer network. Operations in accordance with the disclosed techniques can be performed at one or more network visibility nodes that operate as part of a visibility fabric, for example for monitoring traffic on the network. In certain embodiments, packets associated with the traffic are received at a network visibility node communicatively coupled to the network that is operable to enable visibility across the network. The network visibility node can access network traffic rules that mirror the network traffic rules applied at devices on the network. The network visibility node can further process the received packets using the accessed network traffic rules to identify packets or flows of packets that satisfy criteria associated with the accessed network traffic rules.

  • Patent number: 10367771
Abstract: Participant identifiers, or display names, for participants in an electronic communication can be selected such that each participant's display name is unique relative within a defined set of “relevant” participants, such as all participants in an electronic communication exchange or all contacts in a contacts list maintained for a specific user. Selection of display names can be optimized to provide a unique display name for each participant using a reduced or minimized number of characters.

  • Patent number: 10291546
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for dynamically allocating and accessing hosting server resources to users of hosting services. The system may include one or more servers that provide multiple levels of access to the hosting server resources, and an administration server configured with one or more migration paths that allow the user to migrate the account between two levels while the account remains accessible to all entities authorized to access the account. The hosting server resources may be divided according to virtual partitions that are resizable by the administration server. The system may include a migration interface stored on and accessible to the user from the administration server. The migration interface provides the user with options to migrate the account between the levels of access. The system may include an application programming interface that provides access to the administration server for changing the account's level of access.

  • Patent number: 10270843
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for use in a network environment that includes one or more service zones, each service zone including at least one instance of an in-line application service to be applied to network traffic and one or more routers to direct network traffic to the at least one service, and a route target being assigned to a unique service zone to serve as a community value for route import and export between routers of other service zones, destination networks or source networks via a control protocol. An edge router in each service zone or destination network advertises routes by its destination network prefix tagged with its route target. A service chain is created by importing and exporting of destination network prefixes by way of route targets at edge routers of the service zones or source networks.

  • Patent number: 10264050
Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for predictive analysis of computing patterns for preloaded data to reduce processing downtime. A user may utilize a computing device to interact with a service provider over a network connection, for example, to utilize one or more services or processes of the service provider. Based on the user's actions and/or historical data for the user, the service provider may determine potentially required data and/or processes of the user. The service provider may preload the data or processes, for example, by storing data to the communication device's cache or by executing some of the processes. The service provider may preload data to the communication device while the communication device has available bandwidth or network connectivity so that the data is available in an offline environment. Processes may be executed before requirement by the user during times of low processing load.

  • Patent number: 10248448
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable storage medium, and systems described herein facilitate provisioning a virtual desktop infrastructure having virtual shared storage. A provisioning manager receives a desktop pool type and provisions virtual shared storage among a cluster of hosts. The provisioning manager configures the virtual shared storage based on the desktop pool type and provisions at least one virtual machine to each host in the cluster of hosts. The provisioning manager optimizes the virtual shared storage by receiving a storage performance benchmark from each host and performing an optimization on the cluster of hosts if the storage performance benchmark results do not meet a threshold within a pre-defined tolerance.

  • Patent number: 10244003
Abstract: A media session between an initiating endpoint and a responding endpoint is effected, there being a plurality of available paths through a communication network via which the media session could be established. Type metrics associated with the available paths convey the directness of the available paths and are for making a selection of an available path for the media session. Network information indicative of the quality of the available paths and collected from a plurality of network nodes comprises contributions from network nodes other than the initiating and receiving endpoints which have current and/or have had past visibility of at least parts of the available paths. Said selection is influenced so as to cause the endpoints to select for the media session a higher quality but less direct available path in favor of a more direct but lower quality available path.

  • Patent number: 10230812
Abstract: A set of transcoding techniques are described for transcoding or otherwise processing content, such as media content that includes textual information (e.g., subtitles), to implement subtitles container conversion from one streaming media format to another, with the ability to combine and split input subtitle segments to create subtitle streams of differing lengths with minimal processing overhead. A copy of textual information is stored at a content delivery network (CDN) point-of-presence (POP) server, network edge server device, or other device. When a device requests the content, the CDN POP server determines the type of device based on the information contained in the request and transcodes the textual information substantially in real-time into the correct encoding for that particular type of device when providing the textual information to the device.

  • Patent number: 10212222
Abstract: Delivering information over a distribution network using a distribution manager is disclosed. A first source peer is designated at the distribution manager to function as a first content source for a first destination peer. A second source peer is designated at the distribution manager to function as a second content source for a second destination peer. The designation at the distribution manager of the second source peer to function as a second content source for the second destination peer is dependent on an anticipated effect of the designation at the distribution manager of the first content source for the first destination peer.

  • Patent number: 10212192
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for facilitating communications with an operating system suspended OTT application on a user device. The methods include sending, from a P-CSCF or a WebRTC Gateway, to a push notification framework, a notification configured to cause the push notification framework to send a push notification to the suspended OTT application (IMS OTT application or WebRTC OTT application). The push notification may wake up the OTT application and cause a notification initiated REGISTRATION request to be sent by the OTT application. This can be initiated just before the IMS core network de-registers the OTT application based on a timer, or based on receipt of a SIP request (e.g. phone call received) when the OTT application is suspended. In addition, the push notification provides a lightweight authentication at the P-CSCF instead of a full blown authentication at the usual place S-CSCF.
