  • Patent number: 7865421
Abstract: An anonymous trading system is configured to receive a price stream from a bank or other institution. The price stream is converted into a quote stream and input into the trading system via an automated trading interface. The quote stream has its own deal code. The deal code credit limits are set so that the only parties that have credit with the deal code are other deal codes of the same institution. At least one of these deal codes represents a prime broker bank and prime broker customers therefore have access to the institution's price stream to the exclusion of other parties trading on the system. A distributor distributes the quotes from the trading system to the prime broker customers' traders, to prime broker customer automated trading interfaces, and to prime broker customer deal feed systems for logging of deal tickets and communication of those deal tickets to back office systems.

  • Patent number: 7840468
Abstract: The invention comprises a system and method for hedging or mitigating mortality exposure risk in a portfolio of mortality-dependent instruments. A mortality risk or longevity risk of the portfolio is calculated or otherwise determined. Then the sensitivity of the portfolio to mortality risk or longevity risk is calculated or otherwise determined, in other words, how much is cost or value of the portfolio affected by a change in mortality rate. To account for that mortality exposure, a selection is made of building block mortality derivatives that include age-based mortality derivatives. The selected plurality of building block mortality derivatives are used to create a hedge against the mortality risk or longevity risk of the portfolio.

The database provides additional applicant information. This information can include one or more of prescription drug history, credit history, motor vehicle records, and geocentric mortality risk. The server obtains the applicant information, calculates the applicant's risk, makes an underwriting decision. Another system calculates a prescription drug risk for an applicant from pharmacy benefits management data, drug risk category data, and application data.

  • Patent number: 7822667
Abstract: An investment account is managed having associated assets, including shares of different securities, transacted in accordance with a plurality of different investment styles. A cash deposit into such a multi-style investment account and a request for a cash withdrawal from the multi-style investment account are handled differently but efficiently across the different investment styles in the investment account. When cash is deposited into the investment account, the cash deposit is placed into a temporary “cash bucket” in the investment account common across different investment styles. The cash is then distributed individual “cash buckets” each associated with an investment style in the investment account in accordance with a selected cash deposit allocation.

  • Patent number: 7813985
Abstract: A Group Equity-Indexed Annuity (GEIA) with a guaranteed minimum equity related return for a set of individuals are provided. An algorithm sets a “participation rate” of a GEIA contract as well as the carrier margin, risk and opportunity for recovery. The carrier is held accountable to the participation rate produced by the model investment portfolio in the formula and subject to the guaranteed minimum. The selection of the participation rate is entirely visible to a GEIA contract-holder. A “hedge budget” is based on a formula-driven amortization process that blends old and new money. Underlying assets are also managed to a “constant” duration, such as the duration of a bond index selected by the GEIA contract-holder.

  • Patent number: 7801791
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for gathering information from issuers of municipal securities and distributing information evenly to municipal disclosure repositories, regulatory bodies and the public. A computer application enables an issuer to enter ongoing information about an issue to comply with contractual obligations to bond holders and to provide Brokers and Dealers with a procedure for facilitating regulatory requirements that provide prompt notice of events relating to bonds they recommend to customers. The computer application prompts issuers to file information that is required to be submitted on a periodic basis, and publishes such information to the public, while also transmitting such information to municipal disclosure repositories and/or regulatory bodies. If an issuer does not submit required information by a due date, a failure to file notice is generated. An audit trail is established for gathered and distributed information.
