  • Patent number: 6519237
Abstract: A method to expediently perform search/correlation operation between an internal pilot pseudonoise (PN) sequence and an incoming pilot PN sequence. This operation is used to acquire base stations in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system. In one embodiment, the present invention recites a method comprising several steps. First, a plurality of PN sequence values are provided internally and an input signal sample is received. The input signal sample is correlated, in parallel, with the plurality of PN sequence values. The correlation operation is performed at a rate equivalent to the input sample rate times the number of PN sequence values being correlated in parallel, assuming a resolution of one. The resultant products are respectively summed and stored in a plurality of accumulators.

  • Patent number: 6512753
Abstract: Disclosed is a channel spreading device for a base station device in a CMDA communication system for spreading input symbols using a first quasi-orthogonal code having a first length or channel spreading the input symbols using a second quasi-orthogonal code having a second length which is a multiple of the first length. The device comprises a spreading code generator for generating the second quasi-orthogonal code; a channel spreader for providing a plurality of durations by dividing a duration of the second quasi-orthogonal code by said multiple of the length of the first quasi-orthogonal code, and spreading channel coded symbols with the quasi-orthogonal codes divided to have a length corresponding to the divided durations so as to spread the symbols identical in number to said multiple of the first quasi-orthogonal code duration at the duration of the second quasi-orthogonal; and a PN spreader for spreading the channel spread signal with a PN code.

  • Patent number: 6490448
Abstract: A satellite communications system (10) provides for snap to grid variable beam size digital beamforming. The communications system (10) has an antenna configuration (20) for maintaining communications links with satellite networking equipment, and a signal processing system (30) for processing signals resulting from the communications links. The beamforming subsystem (40) forms beams based on the processed signals wherein the beams match predetermined grid information. The beamforming subsystem (40) includes a grid database (50) containing predetermined grid information. A beamforming processor (60) converts the predetermined grid information contained in the grid database (50) antenna coefficients. An antenna management system forms beams based on the antenna coefficients.

  • Patent number: 6477389
Abstract: A method for compensating transmission power deviations of channels in a mobile phone using adjustment channels, which is capable of minimizing transmission power deviations of channels while efficiently compensating for those transmission power deviations. The adjustment channels are selected from channels for mobile phone services while including a reference one of available channels allocated to the mobile phone from the channels for mobile phone services, the number of the adjustment channels being less than the number of the allocated available channels. Respective transmission automatic gain control (AGC) level values for the adjustment channels are stored in the non-volatile memory of the mobile phone.
